Ps3 net wont connect on Vista

Been trying for ages now to get my PS3 connected to Vista and the internet but it wont have any of it. Ive tried going through all the options on the PS3 and ive got network sharing turned on on my pc web settings. Is there anything else I can try?

Are you connecting the ps3 and the pc with vista via the black lead that comes with the ps3 ?
If so, thats a straight through cable, you need a twisted pair cable.

Re: Ps3 net wont connect on Vista

IIRC you need a crossover network cable rather than a straight network cable. I'm sure you've checked it out already but if your running wireless the PS3 has that built in, also if you have a spare ethernet port on your router then the PS3 will plug straight in to that with a normal network cable.

Weird as XP was fine with a normal cable. Unless its just Vista being fussy as usual?

Re: Ps3 net wont connect on Vista

i found it easier to get on with vista lol. i couldnt even get media sharing to work with xp which was my main prompt to go vista but everythin has been bang on since i have.

does the ps3 find the wireless network?

with an ethernet cable it should just connect straight away with no settings to do other than change the ps3 to wired connection as opposed to wireless.

Do you have to put a wep key in? Make sure its all in caps if its on the router as caps, had probelms in the past with other devices where the key was in caps, lowercase would find and connect to the router but no internet.
