Transfering files pc to pc

Ive just bought myself a new PC and was wondering what the best way of transfering my files over? The old pc is on XP andthe new one Vista of that makes any difference.

Either burn to DVD or CD, or get a USB memory stick or even en external HDD

If you were up to it....you could also plug your old hard drive into your new PC along as a slave and then copy files directly from one hard drive to another via Windows Explorer.

I didnt have a massive amount of stuf to change over so got myself a cheap memory stick which did the job. Cheers for the help
