The offered him it yes. If he accepted he admitted liability and still taking him to court....
If he refused it gets faught in court which is the option he has gone for.
Reason i ask mark is i have what look like quite low springs for a Calibra. Thought would be perfect swap for some Vectra Mats, plus free fitment

That's what i got following my crash, £160 for the course, a day and half, and then it's over.

    Would be worth asking about.

I'm going on one of those courses in 2 weeks. How was it? I imagine its sitting in a room full of tenagers and old farts being lectured on how to look both ways at a junction and never go over 25mph or all the children will die, or someting like that...

Ah, I though Brian had stopped behind the give way lines, ah well remembered incorrectly. Anyway, suppose its not biggy Brian going on a driving course, I hear the Tories want to bring back testing for elderly drivers anyway.

You sure? It's normally offered instead of going to court. That way you pay £160, but don't have any points of further fine. that's why i went to it, because court could end up being alot more expensive.

But then if Mark's innocent, then he's got nothing to worry about. Only guilty people need to take the course. Me.

Pretty much, it was quite a mixed class for my 1, ranging from a kid who crashed within a week of passing his test, to a retired guy who was a bit indignant about having some "youngan" of an instructor (he was at least 45!) tell him how to drive after a million years of 'safe' driving.

There were a few women there too - and the inevitable chav who thinks he'sonly there because the police need to make up the numbers.

"i dunno why i'm 'ere, i didn't do nuffink rong!"

    Yeah right.

The 1st day is largely taken up with theory stuff - recognising hazards, apportioning blame for crashes (there's no such thing as an accident) in some given scenarios etc. Then you do a bit of driving with an instructor in the afternoon. These are the guys who teach the normal driving instructors how to drive - so they know their stuff.

The 2nd day (morning only) is mostly spent out in the cars again.

I'm glad i went to mine, not least because i know my crash was completely my own fault, but because i actually learnt some things aswell.

I think everyone should be forced to attend a refresher course every 10 years or so, would make everyone a bit better i think.

wow, that was a marathon - can you tell i'm bored at work?

Well he is getting on a bit. I could have sworn when I drove past just after it happened that he had stopped behind the give way lines. Maybe the Pug pushed him back over???

Guess he's not called dangerous Brian for nothing!

When you passed by Dave the car had been pushed back into Longleaf drive so the could open the road up to let you get home....

I actually was pushed left and ended up near the crossing on the wrong side of the road.

Glad to hear it Steve. I bet Andy is pleased.

Dave has got me a new pump from where he used to work (BB) and I've been checking the internet (Google) for flow rates. It appears to be the same as I have and is listed for the redtop engines, but the pump is used on 3.0l 24v senators as well. The flow rate is 2.25 Ltr/Min Is this going to be up to the job?

I was offered a driver improvement course at a cost of £180, BUT if you read the letter that comes, by taking the course you are admitting liability, which I'm NOT prepared to do, also, if you elect not to do the course, or ignore the letter, you get a summons.

AND, if you fail the course, you get summonsed, so either way it's crap.

Anyhoo, I'm sorting a solicitor and I'll fight it in the courts.

It's pretty much impossible to fail the course though - you just have to show that you've improved your driving during the course. If the morons on y course could do it, you'll breeze it Mark.

But if you think you've got a good enough chance of being found innocent, then fight it as hard as you can - just be aware that should you loose your punnishment will definatly be worse then if you'd done the course.

    Good Luck mate.
