Sounds good, it would be cool to see a MK1 on the road again.

I can't remember the last time I saw one.

And I never forget a pussy.

Very vague message I know, but you all is very quiet.

I don't mind being the scapegoat for pi55 take if it gets some people posting!!
    lmao lmao

Seriously though, Mk1 Astra's are seriously old skool cool. When I was a kid, I remember seing the Mk1 Astra GTE's flying around and when the Mk2 came out, I thought it looked like a jelly!!

Mind you I was very young...........

Mk1's do, indeed, rule , Mk2's are seriously ugly.... with a couple of exceptions.

    I'm still here... most days...
Is everyone still up for the White Hart on the 27/28th??

Just negotiating with the babysitter (me Mam) so it's looking good for our attendance (which, I think, will equal our attendance to last years meets.... i.e. 1)...

had to bring my license to court, the usher took it before i went in, told i had a 12 month ban, didn't get it back. Had to leave my car in town, get a bus home, then go back into town with my parents so my dad could drive it back!!!
    Talk about hassle!!

    Hey ho,

4 days without comment from ANYBODY. I reckon again that freak weather and dodgy warmness have forced silence across Eastern UK.

    lmao lmao

How is everybody? Cool I hope?

    I can't comment too much I s'pose, I haven't been here either
Unfortunatly, I have been working FAR too hard again.

Astrasport, your name hasn't been around much, hope you are OK?

Can anybody tell me how to perform miracles on 1.4 8v Astras?
I can't get used to it after my Cavaliers

I must admit though, I never thought I would get Astras, but I quite like my shed. I am thinking many things for it! If I get my finger out!! LOL!! lmao lmao

Anyways, take care, be safe. I hope to see you all soon.

    Regards
    Mark

I'm fine thank you... finally getting a chance to go on mig at work this week (which is nice) is your 1.4 8v a single point injection jobbie??

because if it is, my old engine is lying in the lockup, and if you want to get a bit more oomph out of it, you can try polishing & porting my old heads and see what that does??

Mark, do what i'm going to do to mine before she comes back on the road...
Converted to mpi, exhaust center section off a '91 astra (with no CAT) new backbox, induction kit, and a service!!!
Been told mpi astra's make around 80bhp (could be b0ll0cks though!)
So with the rest of the stuff, i'd be looking at between 85-90bhp!!

Get an engine conversion. Would be much easier.

I have had a set of Astra GSI sideskirts fitted and changed the front bumper for one with an Irmsher lower half and centre section cut out and meshed.

Not over the top, just to bring the rest of the car in line with the rear Irmsher splitter and finish off the bodywork. I had the drivers door resprayed at the same time because that was the only panel left with any scratches.

I want to connect the rear lock to the central locking (IE: so I can lock the car from the boot) does anyone have any ideas how I can do this?

I know of a couple of XE engines for under £300 but if you have insurance problems after your ban I am sure a 1.6 16v or 2.0l 8v enging cant be much.

well the thing is, i'm hopefully going to do a mechanic's course at the local college in september, as a hobby to get the skills, but i can take my own engine to work through the course with, so i will get an engine (1.6, 2.0 8v, XE, etc), and re-build and tune it at college.
Would just like to covert mine to mpi but keep my 1.4 lump.

Insted of converting it to Mpi, you could always chuck a pair of 40's on it, with a cam and some head work should see over 90bhp easy.

seeing as its low compression, some sort of turbo wouldnt be out of the question, seeing as you have plenty of time, it might be worth looking at
