Anyone want to help get my car started,

Hey all,

Just wanted to see if there was anyone near me who wants to help me get my 2.0 8v nova started, Im not sure what the problem is, Iv got a spark and fuel, Iv got a feeling its to do with timing as it backfires after turning over a few times buts its a fixed dizzy, And i dont like touching cam belts,

I put my flaut reader on it and it came up with code 31, so im waiting to try a new crank sensor,

it wouldnt be a crank sensor if your engine isnt running as it always comes up when its not running

plug leads on right way? could be 180degrees out on the timing.

iv got the plug leads at 1342 which i belive is right, The cam could be out by a 180 degrees out as it as its just had a new cam belt that was done by a garge before the engine went in, so i would be shocked if it was, What is the best way to check?

There may be a tooth or 2 out on the belt, or it may have slipped while turning over, be carefull as this may result in bent valves, especialy if you hear the engine tone change while turning it over (It will get faster as there will be no compression)

If the belt cover is off you can check the marks are lined up.

Wayhey i got it started the dizzy was shot, So the spark was crap, But with a new dizzy it started first turn off the key, Now to get the rest rebuilt,

Are you after a full engine rebuild then? Without wanting to offend, it would have been easier to get it rebuilt before you fitted it.
