Anybody up for engine transplant??

Hey guys

After much discussion, i have decided to buy a C20XE. It has everything with it ready to do the swap (i hope!!) Is there anyone available on here in my area (essex) to come and have a look at the engine to check things over before i start putting money into it, and if so how much would you charge????

It isn't in a car at the moment so it's easier to look at.

Hope somebody can help me!!

Good luck there mate. Should be an easy enough swop. Definately change the belt though if you have no idea when it was last done. You will definately notice the difference an XE makes

If you were closer I'd offer to help but it's a fair drive for me!

Definitely do the water pump, they are under £30 for a genuine Vauxhall one and can really mess things up if they fail. Ditto the cambelt.

Did you hear it running at any point?

What you must realise is things are ten times easier to do when the engine is out. A cambelt, water pump or headgasket is a far simple job with the engine out of the car.
