| rolf the golf ok told you id maybe traitor the ranks...got my first non vxl car in 16 years at the weekend if olive dont sell (she`s on ebay now) then i`ll own 2 cars
anyways, had been looking for something more economical, old skool and cheap
was thinking 16v big bumper GTI and not in red or black
found a 8v in red but a few phone calls later the bloke was messing me about and decided not to go on the 3 hour drive to cheltnham to look
in the mean time i found this car
1.8 8v GTI, she`s a 1987 built, registered in jan 1988 kept fairly original, except got 16v light, lowered by 30mm..few bits and bobs, odd dink, i want to get sorted...going to keep the retro chic wheels and the thought of paying £25 a tyre insted of minimum of £80 rocks
so for a 20 year old car, she`s looking tidy, especially compared to some of the ratty ones id seen going for similar money and apparently silver ones are quiet rare
ive already made a start by removing the hidious stickers on the window and 3 airfresheners

| its clean, want to sort the boot,(dodgie spray job previously and want a non sprayed handle )but my bloke can sort that
yeah its kinda sad..will miss olive (if she goes) but rolf is far more fun than id imagined to drive, holds the road quiet well compared to my old GTEs of the same era |

| andy...shame on you
chris, thought about it, also thought about the whole euro stylie look, but think, i might just try keeping fairly original and in good nick, then hopefully he`ll add value over the years, apparently silver ones are quiet rare, especially the earlier ones with 1/4 window
mark thank you big step to go from my vauxhall security blanket and the 8v got less bhp than my banana had, but as he`s a hellova lot lighter, he goes well
its got a gti engineering badge on the boot, and a tiny weeny sticker in the 1/4 window, plus a original advert from the company (based at silverstone), in the tons of history i got with him, dunno if they did a power steering conversion on him (as its unusual for a 87 to have it) of whether theyve tweaked it abit |

There's also a guy on e-bay who sells them ready made for around £35.
Oh, and stick with the small bumpers, big bumpers are heavy, chavvy and fitted to every 1.3CL model around!
