Glad Rob could get it sorted Laura. I understand the last mechanic who worked on the engine made a bit of a hash of it.

    Nice result for an XE...

its good to hear the place done a good job, my mates car was screwed there, although they refunded him-it still left him majorly out of pocket getting it fixed! hearing they done a good job makes me more inclined to want to visit.

Well it was tight on the block, so much so the bolts (without washers) squashed into the head! Name and shame then Laura, big thumbs up to SES in Braintree that sorted it all out for her!

the work done to the engine is

    compresion ratio raised
    ported head
    kent cams
    fse boost valve
    uni chipp
re map ( by paul at engine advantages )
Knife matched inlet & exhaust chambers
    Sbd fast road manifold
Full stainless steel custom 2.5” bore exaughst system with decat
    Enlarged throttle body
    Crane adjustable venire pullys
    Swirl valve
    cool running thermostat
    induction kit

as for the person that done the work to the engine, although these werent little cable ties left they were mahoosive... they are a friend and its just one of those things ( ok it cost me over £200 to get it sorted ) but they have done me alot of favours and im not going to go blameing anyone....

i am not to happy to have my car blasted about though by ANYONE who works on it, and then they get pulled weather it was for my tints or not, the car should not have been on the road....

WHAT???? You dont expect someone to work on an engine and not ensure theyre work is ok? It wasnt 'blasting' as he would have got nicked for speeding, its because the tints were too dark?

Sorry but what you are saying there is just a bit immature lol!!! It was due to the tinted windows from what i was told. Something which you have been pulled over before too apparently? A simple warning would of been curtieous imo. Plus how could Rob check the engine was running well without taking it out? I'd expect any mechanic to take the car out to check all was working as it should, i would of said its common sence.

I take it Rob took it for a quick test to check it all run well then? Normal practice usually, especially if you take to a dealer for any engine or suspension work.

    Re: got the car R&R

This thread is old but I'd just like to say that I had nothing to do with securing a head with cable ties .
Read this 3 years ago but had a weird dream about it .... must have nothing better to think about .
I don't even think anyone could think it was me but there you go ...
How is that possible anyway ? wouldn't they melt .
I canny invest in ya and for that reason , I'm oot .
