Warning - Increased Police Activity In Lincolnshire!

I have just been given a heads up of the following operation that Lincolnshire police will be running during March.

    Sir, Ma'am, All,
Please be aware that with effect 1 Mar 08 and for the whole of March, Lincolnshire Police are launching 'OPERATION FALCON'. This consists of filming, by way of the video vans frequently seen on the A15, road side stops, and unmarked camera cars to control the use of mobiles phones and the wearing of seatbelts. During this period motorists will not be given the opportunity to correct any misdemeanours but, will be prosecuted for the offence.
The video vans will be at their usual locations and will also be employed at areas not normally associated with speed traps. To this end you are all to be aware that the area alongside the (DIGBY) Unit's perimeter opposite the sports field, where the video van has recently been used, will be one of those areas and individuals videoed or stopped will be prosecuted by the civilian authorities.
The road safety Officers at Lincs Police have given me permission to inform everyone of the above as there primary concern is one of prevention rather than cure.
A reminder will be posted on the LED Sign at the exit of the Stn.(DIGBY)
Please see below a BBC link covering this topic.

Try not to get yourselves nicked and spread the word so we can keep their hands out of our pockets! It's well known that Lincolnshire Police are VERY underfunded at the moment so this just smacks to me of a way of them raising a little dosh to line their pockets in the name of 'road safety' (not that I'm condoning breaking the law by not wearing a seatbelt or driving while on the phone).
Currently repairing/restoring a Corsa GSi - check the Restoration section for my progress

Self confessed 'Blue-Oval-Boy'.......go easy on me!

Over the past two days in Northamptonshire, every time I've been out I've spotted massively increased police activity and lots of unmarked cars pulling people over.

Wonder if they are having a bit of a purge as well.

Wear your seatbelt and put your phone away and you'll be fine.

    You'd be surprised.
I still see a good few people every day on their phones while driving.

Is it illegal to have a miobile phone switched on but left on a pasenger seat or in the door pocket not for taking any calls whilst driving but just so that you know someone tried to call you and then you could pull somewhere safe and call back?
beacuse thats what I do, I don't answer any calls if the phone rings while I am driving, but will pull somewhere safe and then see who called me and if necessary reply otherwise drive on.
Our future lies in the past, we can learn from the past to forcast our future,

ooh a quote from a lincoln piggy:

"It's also down to the excessive speeds used in Lincolnshire.

"I say now we are going to enforce the law. The Lincolnshire public must know that the rates of deaths and injuries on our roads are totally unacceptable."

^^ if our roads had a decent surface and not the **** ones we have at the moment then less cars wud fall off the roads at corners. no joke some here have all the gravel worn away and its just tar left, if you press the brakes hard, it can lock the wheels and stall the engine.
