Smile Expanding the East Mids region

Right guys, what do we need?

More events? More regular users? More regional discussion?

Let's have your ideas

More events sounds good. If we had more regular users then a monthly meet would be great, otherwise it can be a lonely affair!

I'm sure OP has a few ideas.

Perhaps a general "Midlands" meet to include a few of the West Mids boys? Somewhere between the two regions (Derby area, or Burton perhaps?)

We've had regular Monthly meets up until the end of 2006. At this point I decided to give it a couple of Months until we start up again.

I've organised a few events including Laser Quest with the WM guys but its really hard to get people to comit to a date/location.

I'm up for more 'events' as well as the usual meets.

ideas?

I'd be up for that. Maybe meet up on Cannock chase for a BBQ or something like that.

We've had a number of joint meets with the WM. The problem isnt having the meets but getting EM people to turn up.

There have been a good number of new members/forum users who have recently shown interest so hopefully we can build on this to make the EMids a great region. When I first started as a Co-ord there were about 15 people who turned up. Then as the year went on people had other things to do so the numbers fell.

I'm also happy to vary the meet locations and times etc

I like this idea. Maybe towards the summer we can arrange something like this?

OP the Derbyshire Region of the VxSCC that I run is exactly the same, members come and go and we have always struggled with low numbers. It must be that there are too many clubs in this area so if we all merge as one we could make a huge club.

A joint meet is the way forwards, it's just finding a central location for everyone! Burton is within easy reach for most Notts/Derby folk, but probably too far for some WM members.

A meet / big BBQ / romantic walk in the woods sounds good.

I don't think joint meets are the way forward. I think they're good to have now and again but it doesnt solve the EMids problem, just makes the numbers look good. The way forward IMHO is to increase the number of regular EM meet go'ers to a reasonable number.

Saturdays meet looks like its going to be a good'un. Hopefully if Chav puts on a bit of a man-show for us other like minded individuals will be convinced to come again!
