    ooh look, someone who doesn't know what they are talking about.

    XE will need a freshen up (full service + cleaned injectors and new sensors), apart from that its a far superior engine to a modern 2.0 for strength, reliability and power. Will need a cat for MOT purposes tho as it's a modern car which means its 150bhp, not 156bhp.

    For example Phatboy bought an old snotty Cav GSi as a donor back in the day with a 160,000 mile XE in it. All I did was:

    New top end gaskets (including head gasket), new cambelt and rollers, new filters and oil. Made 160bhp on the rollers when on the same day many cars were getting less than book figures.
