Few pics of the conversion for you:

This is the picture of MarkT's 3.0 V6 in his Astra Mk2, I have based my conversion on his:

Old C25XE engine removed with F16CR gearbox:

New X30XE ex-police engine (totally rebuilt top ends by me and a mint bottom end):

Last of the line 6-speed F28 gearbox, converted to 2WD and also converted to mechanical speedo:

Both lumps meet each other for the ancillaries swop shop:

Vectra metal cam covers, much better than the plastic versions... but the omega inlet plenium fouled the oil cap, nothing a grinder couldn't fix :

New engine is ready for fitting!:

F28 was installed first, fitted to brand new uprated engine mounts:

    Engine is in:

Plenuim fouls a bit me thinks:

By lowering both mounts by about 1/2 an inch the bonnet now clears the plenium.... JUST!!

A few pictures of the new airfilter/AMM/inlet setup:

    Spot the cone filter

    Finished product!!

Now considering this is the first time I have worked on the internals of a V6 and the omega inlet setup I was a little worried that it wouldn't start or something silly. Anyway about 5 seconds of cranking and she fired up... sounded terrible as the tappets wern't pressurised... that took about 5 mins and she went silent

I was very chuffed with myself and let the engine run hot to make sure that the coolant system filled up and everything was working. Because the tappets were a bit loud I had closed the bonnet and was standing by the drivers door looking at the temp gauge, when all of a sudden.... BANG.... a loud banging noise momentarily from the engine.... I quickly switch ed off the engine just as steam started bellowing from under the bonnet and many hissing sounds could be heard.

Now me and boiling coolant don't go so well together.... anyone remember the coolant pipe blowing off HMS Broadside at 110 degrees and scalding my face will understand why I didn't go and pull the bonnet up right away lmao

After waiting for a few minutes I lifted the bonnet, the radiator core has blown!!! Bloody typical, pretty much the ONLY engine component I hadn't even touched was the one to fail!!!

So she's on the drive and I am borrowing my mates car for work tomorrow. Oh well.

I'd say, I did blip the accelerator momentary and it's got an awesome response. Might be something to do with the XE flywheel and the lightened and balanced crank

I did think of turning the top plenium round (requires mods), or use the Sintra one thats already that way round. But after measuring up, the omega one was better off that way round.
