    Quitting as co-ordinator

Its now time to hang up my hat as co-ord for the Central region. I know i've said it before in previous year and have been tempted back by Tom and promises of topless women at Billing but this time it is for good.

I dont really have the time to commit to the club anymore and to be honest its more hassle than its worth. You onlt have to look in the Central forum to see the events we've had to cancel due to lack of numbers. Even with Rich pming everyone on the forum who is a member we have 4 or 5 if lucky at a meet and other events are not even worth bothering with.

The Xmas meal which looks to be another lackluster event will be my last event in co charge of the region, i hope i can leave it in the capable hands of Rich and Bex

Damn i'm gonna have to start paying for membership now

    Peace out boys & girls

TBH seem it coming for ages, and TBH unless things start improving Bex maybe on her own. We've tried everything to get numbers out the events/meets, including rotation, and go karting, rr's, etc, etc.

All you can do is advertise, and if people turn up, they turn up. It's pointless arranging these meets and events then cancelling them cos only 6 or so people come. If 6 people come then 6 people come, those 6 people can have a crack leaving the other central members sat at home watching repeats of Will & Grace!

From a relatively new persons perspective, people are probably reluctant to stick their names down for things because more than likely it's gonna get cancelled.

We'll go if there is 6 as thats worth the effort but the last meet we had 3 members from our region, 1 from another region and 2 who used to be members and were in the area.

I see what you're saying, and completely sympathise with all the co-ords, but because "Central" is such a huge region it's quite a trek for some people to get to where the meets are From my own personal point of view I'm more likely to attand meets that were closer than Aylesbury tbh.

I'm led to believe that "Central" is the biggest region on MIG....maybe that's where the problem lies?

As for the central section on the forum I only ever see the same old people posting! Rich posted up a huge list of peeps in the region, yet I could could count the amount of members that post in here on both hands, if that!

There must be a solution? There's enough of us to come up with ideas! No point just sitting here and giving up otherwise we'll be left with absolutely nothing.

We can't keep on losing good co-ordinators, that have all worked hard and put their own time and effort into making it work. Just seems a shame that's all

Give us an idea, i'll tell you if we've tried or discussed it.
I think we have tried all solutions.

    loads of things
I also think the central region is a bit to big, splitting it in half or something might be a good plan as a lot of people don't like to travel to far for a night out and also there is nothing stopping us having a 'group' central meet every few months. If it helps im all up for sticking my name down as a co-ordinator if it helps spread the work load up here in the northants area.

south-east is still a large region, it is quite a trek for me from the bottom of the country to just south of london, should be worth it though. and as an ex midlander i can comprehend the central problem, would it be worth quartering the central region? nec/nwc/sec/swc ? might give a few more people the incentive to go along to meets etc if they know they arent going to have the long journey, also with long journeys comes cost, petrol, snacks, talivans (not been nabbed yet but all it takes is one slip of the right foot at the wrong time) work commitments (suspended on full pay at the mo so no prob for me ) tis a shame really, (dont like it either when AS had a pop about migs poor turnout as i know we are a lot better bunch of people, friendlier region to region too).
anyway said my twopenneth, but whatever you decide nicky tis your choice at the end of the day
    I smile because I don't know what's going on.

Totally sucks matey, as said above though, i can see where you are coming from.

Im sorry i aint made the last few meets, being made redundant has made cash flow a bit tight, im typing this from my cozey desk at new job so will have money again...WHHOOO!

It would be great if we could find some way of sorting things out in the region tho, and will be a shame to lose you as a co-ord as you did a cracking job (Rich n Bex you are stars too).

The regulars are regulars, remember the list i put up with names on? That just shows how many people either A, come on the board, B, Go to the regional section, or C, don't give a crap, as i now email and PM everyone in the region of any event!

That is what we did last year despite Tom saying the Central region would not be split we did it anyways.
South had the meets in Abingdon and North near Luton i believe, only problem with the few months we did it was the same people cam along but this time instead of 5 or 6 people there was 2 or 3 at each venue despite holding the meets 2 weeks apart.

When i joined 5 years ago we used to have 20+ at a meet and it was in the same place as we have it now. People now just want something on their doorstep all the time.

Nick i think you are doing the best thing!! You've tried your best and no buggers trying to come to meets!!! I think Rich should follow soon but he'll probably stick it out for a bit longer!! Oh well. Go enjoy yourself elsewhere and dont stress about a car club thats not doing much to help itself!!!

Jane has a good point unfortunately. It's not going to improve unless people start attanding.

If it carries on like this though people are gonna stop paying membership as there's no point forking out for cancelled meets!

If there was more information made available to newer members on the meets, like what goes on at meets, what sort of even it can turn out to be, what is available there, what you can do at a meet, what sort of car you should bring, wheather you can turn up at a meet in a plain boring car such as mine ..i.e. standard factory fit, are people going to be welcoming and friendly, or will it be another devastating experience, until this is put forward to new members they would be reluctant to attend any meets. This information should be available in print version sent to members every now and again in a form of regional magazine covering past events and future schedules, all other events, I mean I have never attended any meets in my life and I must say I never venture into the unknown.
if it wasn't for the earth , there wouldn't be any universe, mother earth gave birth to all the creation! and without the earths gravitational pull, the sun and the moon would have long gone adrift!

Thats one thing that i think has turned the regions into the dead areas they are now, we used to have loads of people using the regional forums before they were locked to all but members. Those non members who used to say hello or those who had moved onto other marques then went elsewhere where they could chat to peeps in their area about stuff.

Ever since then the regional forums have been pretty much dormant.

tis true nick, you know i felt about dropping out of the SE b4 now. but it seems with good promotion others are now on board and looking at nigh on 20 people attending next w/ends meet i cant even remember in the old days of mig there being more than 10 or so sometimes it is worth holding out for, but do understand. have u tried doing a roll call for the region to see where everyone is, then findin an alternative meet point for some other members that dont/havnt attended?

be a shame to see you jack it in mate, i'm sure you are doing all you can.

its hard to keep everyone happy sometimes.
