    Xmas Meal, please Vote!!

Ok folks, we need your vote here.

Claire and I are looking at places for the Xmas meal and are thinking of doing a joint one with the South Central region to make it a worthwhile night.
A couple of years ago we had one with the South East region and it was an ace night with 30 odd people even tho we had to travel down to Surrey for it.

What we want to know is whether you lot would want a joint meal. Where ever we have it we will make sure there is a Travel Lodge etc next door or very near for those wishing to drink and stay overnight.

Projected price is around £15 for a 3 course meal and £30 odd for the room.

    Please Vote

    Nick & Claire

do we have to have a 3 course meal, i'm usually happy with a little main meal and pudding, cause i dont eat £15 worth of food in 2 days, let alone one meal.

Lol, nah you dont have to but as far as i know its all one price whether you do or not.

Usually something like Soup etc for starter then proper turkey and trimmings followed by a choice of desert.

You usually get a wide choice of what you want but its a set price.

Once details are decided payment will be in advance of the meal and no shows will not get a refund unless we are told a couple of days in advance, this money will go into mig funds or a charity box at the pub if there is one.

We'll see Claire but most of the places will do a set menu for a set price. It works out cheaper than if you were to get it seperately but obviously if you dont eat it then its more.
We'll have a look at what they offer at whichever place we choose

    Just to update you guys....

We've spoken to Lee May and he's keen on the idea. I've found a few places in Reading, which is right on the border of our region and his to make it fair for everyone.

The place I have in mind is just off the M4 at J11 and is £15 pp for the meal and about £30 for the room, but we will be able to get a discount on this if we book the rooms altogether, so will hopefully only be about £25.

We are looking at preferably Saturday 13th around 8:00pm. Either that or Saturday 6th. The hotel is near enough empty at the moment, but the meal I will have to book very soon as everyone seems to be booking their christmas parties at this time of year.

Please can I have everyone's opinions over the today and tomorrow so we can make a decision asap.

    Thanks,
    Claire

I'll have 1 room, smoking (emphasise the smoking room bit), king size bed and 3 meals (2 for me and 1 for Clare) and I like my breakfast (and Resolve) brought up to my room at 10.00am

Need to tell the hotel we need EXTRA security for all the nice cars!

I am cool with the location (I intend on getting so p155ed I won't care where it is), but I reckon some people won't like this with some people saying how far it is off the centre of the region. I know its smack bang in the centre of the TWO regions, but I can see certain members commenting on the whole, "its always the Reading/Oxford" members that seem to benefit the most.

Thats up to them but as it will be more than likely with the S Central region theres little point in having it up region. We had it on our own last year but had 4 from elsewhere and it still wasnt as good as the one i had at the joint SE/Central. No-one complained last year and it was 1/2 mile from my front doorlmao

    Warning, antics like this occur.

If your pointing that thing at me then can I just point out that I have no issue with the location as long as as long as the meal/accomodation is affordable. Something like this is a one off and well worth the effort.

What my issue is with (and it ends here, this is not the place for this discussion) is having to do a 140 mile round trip to a monthly meeting. Perhaps we should have it every month in Northampton and see how many people from the south of the region come every month without complaining.

No finger pointed at any particular individual, sometimes even the people who benefit the most mention that certain things are not fair for others. I agree with you, it is a once a year thing, (like Billing, PV etc) and well worth the effort to go to. One last thing, I probably would come up to Northamptonshire for a meet, as long as its at the Pod!

Anyway, let the XMAS p155 up (I mean civilised Xmas meal) talk continue..........

You know we're addressing the issue and that a new venue closer to the centre of the region is being sought (check the other thread), so does it really need to be brought up again?

Trev - I know you have no issue with the location of the meal and we did agree with what you had to say before about the venue for the meets.

As Trevor says, the xmas meal is completely different and I know that the majority of you will be prepared to travel a little further for this occassion....especially if it's going to mean a bigger and better night for all of us
    Cheers guys.
