Cool
If anyone hasn't watched it, there was a good program on bbc4 the other night about them
BBC iPlayer - Madness on Wheels: Rallying's Craziest Years
was a really good programe full of really passionate drivers and there memories of group b
I watched that, was a mint documentary.
Vectra B Estate 2.2
Vectra B Saloon 2.6
Renault Kangoo C20XE On bike carbs (yes you read that correct, no its not finished yet)
'Twas a good program, especially for the BBC!
I didn't care much for the narrator, she was very anti-motorsport, whereas the drivers were talking about it being the best days of their lives!
As for the event, I'm there, don't care how far I need to drive!
it was a good documentary, I must say though the crowds where really bad standing in the way, but respect to all the rally car drivers. Thats some next level driving, I think i'm good through the lanes and the occasional track days but that's nothing compared to what they do.

Yeah, and BBC4 that puts out stuff like that all the time is getting its tiny budget slashed while BBC3 is full speed ahead, bringing us gems such as Hotter Tthan My Daughter and Lee Nelson.
I saw the documentary come up on Now and next. Just 10mins and i would have missed it. It was good, But there was none of the truely epic footage which does exist.
Unfortunately i think anyone who goes to see the rally will be disapointed. It will undoubtably be very tight special stage's with very low speeds. Plus the consequences of binning one will be at the forefront of the drivers minds so i would expect it to be more of a demostration than a competetive rally. Also likely to be a majority of 6r4's.
probably right craig but the stages they are using they should get some good speed out of them
i just want to here the noises of them in person
Unfortunately I think Craig is right. What they want to do is start a modern day Group B. Give the current manufacturers carte blanche to create what ever their budget allows. If the Group B cars of yesteryear were fast, imagine what todays would be like!
In fact, I think even with the 300bhp limit of todays rally cars, they still put in quicker times than the old group Bs.
Dont forget they do still run the pikes peak challenge and supercars in rallycross, so it is still possible to go and watch the cars, Just not in the sort of environment which saw them banned.
Granted the latter is on the other side of the world
Just visit castle coomb rally car day see The Rallyday Event Site usually a few Group B cars in action.

Standard & uprated engine rebuild parts available, also Gripper & Quaife diffs, PM your needs.
The last 2 years i have been to the rally days have been very poor for group B demo's. Never once seen an s2 quattro actually make it onto the track, and the rs200's and lancia s4's usually just get put on stands.
More likely to see a couple of privateer LWB quattro's and 6r4's there unfortunately. For flat out groub B action Lydden hill is best in my opinion.
