I used to be indecisive but now I am not quite sure
Corsa B fitted with a C18XE - 42mpg from Billing back home. That includes some spirited driving too.
When was it last serviced?
erm, last September i think
it hasn't really moved since then though. I think the service was at 34,000 an its now at 36,000
i thought diesels were good on juice!!
I used to be indecisive but now I am not quite sure
Properly confusing!
1.8 150 in the post, Signum 150 TDCI in the profile... that'll be a Signum 1.9 CDTi 150bhp then!
Economy wise, you can't really compare it to any other as your circumstances are unique to you and there are so many variables. Do you drive in the town? Are you a bit heavy on the throttle? Does the car have a running issue... MAF, injectors issues, blocked DPF, uniflated tyres, poor quality diesel, binding brakes, a ton of crap in the boot...
Dempsey has a CDTi 150bhp Vectra estate and it'll do around 40mpg on a good day on a run and that's a car in A1 condition, regulary serviced and properly looked after. Get one on the motorway, ease off the pedal and cruise along and it's be into the high 40's but get into town and you'll be down in the low 30's. Roughly.
A 1.8 16v Astra Coupe will do low 30's round town and high 30's, maybe even hit 40mpg on a motorway run so really, not much in it. Too many people out there jumping on the diesel bandwagon thinking they'll save mega bucks in fuel thanks to a superb mpg figure when in reality, it's not the case... an Astra Coupe averaging 35mpg and a Signum diesel doing 40mpg over 1,000 miles at today's prices... the Astra will cost you £168.72, the Signum will cost £156.73.
A saving of £11.99 over 1,000 miles...
People seem to forget that diesel is about 8p a litre dearer than fuel so take a petrol car and a diesel car, both averaging 35 mpg and driven over an average annual mileage of say 12,000 miles. The petrol car will cost £2024.70 and the diesel, £2149.39.
That's £124.69 extra a year to run a diesel that is returning the same MPG as a petrol car... or £10.39 a month... or £2.60 a week... 37p a day.
Not exactly going to make or break the bank either way...
Cavalier Turbo Owners Club - As long as it runs I really dont care...
Truly miserable 25mpg from a 1.3 SPi Skoda driven like an elderly.
One dog goes one way and the other goes the other.
And this guy's saying, "Whaddya want from me?"
Well said turbodave some people dont realise the fact that diesel is more expensive. butt to the op my 2.2 petrol vec gets around 28mpg mostly local runs

i wasn't expecting to do a trillions miles per tank when i got a diesel. just interested to see what everyone else gets mileage wise.....
I bought the car from a Vaux dealer in Great Yarmouth - i brimmed my coupe (which i was part ex'ing for Signum) i had just over half a tank when i got to Great Yarmouth
i brimmed the Signum for the journey home an got back with a 1/4 left. i wasn't driving fast but steady at about 80 - same speed as Astra
I used to be indecisive but now I am not quite sure
40-odd with my daily dirty diesel, but at free/£1.00/£1.39 per litre it works out very cheaply and once it's had a decent service it should return better figures. BMW (1.8 petrol) doing about 30 if driven sensibly, son's Corsa C 1.0 must be doing late thirties/early forties no problem.
There's only one Andy Morrell, only one Andy Morrell. With a packet of sweets and a cheeky smile, Morell is a paedophile.
my daily saab 2.3 turbo auto does about 21 round town with the weather cold normally around 25 when its a bit warmer on a motorway cruise 30-33mpg

Transit connect TDCI does 33mpg on a run, which is a bit annoying as my old Vw Caddy Sdi used to do 50mpg
Lucky to get 20mpg out of the Nova
Currently on 48mpg with the Vectrabus, that's mostly motorway this week though. Round the doors it's 42mpg, not bad for something fairly big and comfy I reckon.
Got a 1.9 CDTI 150 Vectra, and do mixed driving to work, half motorway half towns. and i average about 46, which is more like 40ish in towns, 50+ on motorway! got to be something up with yours surely ?
I always get 600 odd miles after brimming it.
Does yours warm up properly ? I gained around 3mpg after changing the thermostat, cleaning boost sensor may help, replace filters etc
Also tyre pressures may help, i run about 36 front, 34 rear with 225/45/17 tyres.
Just to point out, it may be driving style as well, do you have a trip computer ? although not 100% accurate, it gives you a great indication of the best driving style from the instant consumption, i find once on motorways, pick the right gear and barely any throttle is best, you want to be around 2-2.5k rpm. I find 6th gear is actually pretty useless consumption wise until your creeping over the speed limit, And at 65-70 5th seems to give me better consumption.
Saying all this, i'm pretty sure i could get it down to 35mpg if i was spanking it everywhere lmao
The cake is a lie :(
I have a Astra 1.9 CDTi 150 and I do abit of town and motorway driving over a weekly period and I average around 43 mpg.
I used to have a 1.8 Astra Coupe before this and doing the same weekly trips I do now I was getting about 34 ish mpg.

I get approx 4.5 to 5 miles to a litre of petrol, that works out around 22-25mpg in town, and gets better on a long motorway journey, my 60litre tank covers 400 miles just about. yes its a cally eco, negleceted, bashed, bastardised, lost interest in it, well no not yet, still goes like a bomb!
Our future lies in the past, we can learn from the past to forcast our future,
got 10-15 in my escort van. bowt 20 in my corsa. and 35or so in my 306.
Currently getting around 35 to 38mpg from the Volvo (2.5TDi) which has basically being used for schoolrun/shopping/dog walking duties over the past week or so. It'd return 45mpg on a normal motorway run and the best it ever did was coming back up from Cornwall, fully loaded... and managed just shy of 720 miles on one tank, which works out at roughly 48mpg. Nae bad for a big old bus plus that's set to get better when it starts going au natural.

That's purely town driving, I was expecting a lot more and I suspect it needs a new lambda - I've already changed the CTS. But on Saturday I drove about 80 miles at 55mph constant on the A55 and back on 10 quid's of petrol (130.9p). My calculations may be out, or I'm dial watching too much. I used to get 45mpg in my unmodified Astra GSi with new sensors.
I haven't driven or owned a car for a while. Other than that it's a really good car.
One dog goes one way and the other goes the other.

600 miles MINIMUM from a tank in my 120bhp vecta c derv about 50-55mpg it works out at

It is quite pointless really speaking, even a same car may not repeat the same MPG on a same course because of different circumstences, like for example stop and go, how often you hit the red lights, other times you are flying through green, and then you may be late for somewhere and you are driving harsh, other times you may have all the time in the world and are driving like an old mug, and then you see people stepping on zebra crossing and you got to pull up sharp.
most of the fuel is wasted in acceleration, more enrgy is used to accelerate a given mass over a certain period of time and distance. thats what Einstein said.
I am no good at maths and formulas, someone who has abnormally large frontal lobes may be able to work that out !
