Looks like the Vectras aren't only better on the road, but better on the track too

Re: Awesome video - BTCC Cavalier vs BTCC Vectra

Next we compare the 2011 season McLaren F1 car to Jackie Stewart's 1971 season Tyrell...

Seems a forgone conclusion... an older car on a budget of £200,000 a year isn't a quick nor as techilogically advanced as a (then) current car built on what is in effect, a limitless budget. Never saw that one coming.

Would still have the Cavalier, much more character and soul than the Vectra... plus I don't recollect the Vectra takes the championship title despite being piloted by a man with several under his belt already. What does that suggest, the Cavalier was the best of its era and the Vectra... wasn't. That or the competition upped their game and Vauxhall/888 despite a huge budget, failed to come up with the goods?

50p says the Vectra needed rear rose bushes by the end of lap three and the management light was on as it left the pitts.

Like the engine reversal in the Cav.

Yup, barely any improvement over the Cavalier, despite being a generation newer. The main benefits in the touring car came from the massively increased budget that the Vectra had over the Cav.

Mine was a 1800 estate so handling wasn't an issue as I never got up enough speed to scare myself

Didn't think Vectras were that bad, I think Jeremy Clarkson and his opinions did more damage.
I don't like the car though, I had a 2002 Mondeo and it was identical to drive to the W-reg Vectra, and the Mondeo wasn't as nice!

good video and find! enjoyed that.

Vectra BTCC car only won about 5 races, it was pants basically.

The Cav on the other hand is a bit of a BTCC legend.
