The st200 had recaro seats, ap brakes, koni suspension, speedline wheels, ap diff etc.
The normal st's are basically just an sri with a gsi bumper, different wheels and some trim

Look out for a ST200 buyers guide in Total Vauxhall soon. I believe Dave Reid just threw one together.
The Pope once touched one and Michael Schumacher has one as a weekend toy...... supposedly![]()
If it's number 455, it's a Super Touring as the 38 ST200's that Vauxhall/Irmscher/MSD built were never numbered that high. V6 Super Tourings are only circa 175bhp, ST200's are nearer 200bhp.
And Indiana Jones wasn't looking for the Holy Grail... he was looking for number 13.

On the subject of st's....there's a rare silver one on eBay at the mo...been in TV, £4500 they are asking.
Correction £4350 Reg no S200 MSD.
Very nice indeed.
Welcome to the jungle we've got fun and games.
I've got msd stamped on my boot under the yellow symbol, and got recaro seats, not sure on the rest though??
Proper ST200's... 3.0 inlet cams, 4.45:1 final drive ration, Suretec limited slip diff, Koni suspension, AP 4 pots with 33omm discs, 17" Speedline Mistrals, phase 1 GSi front bumper, Steinmetz side skirts, Recaro seats with unique enlarged shoulder bolsters, carbon firbre gearknob and steering wheel, rectangular plaque on the ashtray numbered 000 to 037, no number 013 but 050 instead.
If yours is number 455... it's definately NOT an ST200. Sorry.

Vectra Super Touring...
Vectra ST200...
Cosmetically very similar, mechanically very very different.
And if yours is a 2.0 16v, there's not a hope in hell it's an ST200. But regardless, number 455 was NOT an ST200... it's a Super Touring.

Accurate thread title
Didn't Olly Hewitt on here have the prototype ST car?
One dog goes one way and the other goes the other.
And this guy's saying, "Whaddya want from me?"
Yes he did - MSD ST200 (Prototype 0000) First ever ST200 off the production line.
Not that exciting back then, but should be worth quite a bit in a few years I'd imagine.![]()

Hmmmmm, had it been a pristine example then maybe yes but that thing's been round the block a few times now.
Such a shame, would have been a nice addition to the Heritage Centre.

Was imusher suspension and ap breaks fitted to the super touring??
I had number 008 ST200 (M200 MSD) a few years back. Turbodave you know him I think. Dave Dempsey came with him to buy it, they told me the engine was knocking slightly I told them it wasn't (which I genuinely thought it wasn't) the guy still bought it but it blew up a few weeks later I was told. I wonder what happened to it.
0008 was up on the isle of lewis for the last few yeasrs up untill the chap sold it last year , another one thats been round the block a few times
on the subject of the prototype, i was told by an ex MSD employee that the ashtrays were getting swapped all the time and he thought that 0000 wasnt acctually that car, and with no record of any reg plates ect kept there no way of telling,
also the same guy told me the demo car in fact had Alcon front brakes an a better suspention kit but these were dropped in favour of the cheaper AP's and konis
nice looking cars altho theres not that many of them left ,
Aye, Auld Ally bought it... I can't actually remember what happened to that car. He got rid of it in liue of a Cavalier Turbo.
With regards to the ashtrays being swapped and so on, you're right. Seems it was a case of "that'll facking do it" when these things were being commissioned, built and sold. Totally random plus the internetz has sprouted numerous stories over the years about cars with Vectra SRi Challenge engines, cars on their roofs during press events, numbers being swapped etc. Plus P902 RBH... ir 000, the prototype seems shrouded in mystery too. The one Clarkson drove was a pre=production effort, nae skirts, Alcons etc.
Basically, they're a bit like the modern day Chevette HSR... they were never a full production model, they weren't built on a line and thus they were all a bit random and really, nobody will ever know exactly what went on behind closed doors. Though plenty are willing to speculate.
As for Super Tourings... they're just SRi's with a GSi bumper and 16" wheels. Nothing more. Best thing I ever did was batter one into the armco at the Nurburgring!

Aye it had been round the block when I got it and that was at least 4 years ago, front brakes were missing off it, had hi spec 4 pots or maybe 6 pots actually, the car was fine when I had it, I think it's
Picture is in my profile.
Do you have any idea where it went after leaving Lewis?
i cant remember buddy tbh, was it yourself that sold him it then ? he had it a good few years anyway
i dont recall it not having th AP's tho, prity tired bodywise but was....ok apart from that
Great thread but it isnt helping me sell mine ! lol
