Vauxhall Movano - Anyone got one?

    Something like this

1999 Vauxhall Movano 2800 D Short Wheel Base | eBay

Want an alternative to a Ford Transit.

    £1000 - £1200 budget

Wonder what weight the 2800kg version can tow?

Take it thats what the 2800 stands for?

I'll do some reading up over the next few days

    Cheers

I'll ask my neighbour Paul as he has one, though not sure it's actually the 2800D model.

IIRC they're based on a Renault and the gearboxes are a known weak spot so (with respect) I'd be making sure there's no crunching etc if you test drive it.

I thought the 2800 referred to the size, 2800=SWB, 3500=LWB?

It's a rebadged renault master, main problem is gearboxes, engines are pretty reliable.
Supposedly a lot of reports of the ends of the dipstick snapping off, but easily sorted.

My mate had one that went through 2 fuel pumps, but not heard any other reports, took a chance on the replacement pump the first time so maybe just unlucky.

We have a couple of vivaros at work with 9m cherrypickers on them, i dont think the running gear is too different although im open to correction! as already mentioned gearboxes are a fault to look out for and the slave cylinders/clutch pipes as well. Also for some reason ours go through a set of track rod ends at each service as well so maybe worth giving them a check too. Hope this helps
