    Help needed with re-starting project

Right so basicly I'm seriously fed up with seeing my project car under an inch of dust and Land Rover parts in my workshop.

For those of you that know the car your clearly very old for everyone else its a MK3 Astra 3 door hatch originally a 1.4 merit.

Current state of play is the car is a completly stripped shell and has been painted and had a 12 point cage welded in.
Parts wise I have a B204L Saab turbo engine, F28 with LSD, 5 stud hubs, 330mm front discs with Wilwood 4 pots and uprated rear discs and pads, equal length drive shaft, two bucket seats, glass, subframe, rear beam and all panels.

Question is now where to start? I need to try and break the build up into sections as I think this is the best way to make progress.
I'm thinking getting it to a rolling shell would be a good start. For this I'm gonna need suspension, wishbones, steering rack, track rods and bushes.

Cars being built as a road legal track car so suspension wise I was thinking Gaz Coilovers, but not sure on which setup to go for as the car has the heavier engine and mk2 Escort rear turrets.

    Help and inspiration required!

    Chris

best bet chris is to write a list of what needs to be done it may be big and haunting looking attach it to the car or somewhere where you will look at it everyday, (the fridge), and say you must get one task done on this list every day or if you have less time every week for the bigger jobs, the list will soon reduce in size,

as i work with in a garage i stuggle with the motivation to do my cars after ive worked on cars all day but got into the routine of spending 5PM-6PM every night doing my own bits instead of coming in the office to get warm while i wait for customers and spend the time sitting on here or ebay or youtube

Not a bad plan that Nige, your not wrong about it being a long list, soooo much to do lol.
My problem is getting the motivation to go down the workshop and actually do anything, especially when its -3 outside.

Order the jobs so you're not doing the same thing twice

eg Don't fit all the suspension / subframe if you're going to take it off again to put the engine in.

I'd also do panels last, to improve access and reduce risk of damaging them.

Yer thats a good point, defently leaving the panels wrapped up for now. Wanna see if I can get a fibreglass bonnet and boot made up anyway.
Starting block is still an issue though, reason I want to do suspension first as seeing a rolling shell would be a real boost to getting the car going and gives me a real chance of at least getting the car to Billing on a trailer lol.

Well had a brief chat with the guys at Gaz suspension. Gold kit for mine is £720 + VAT.
Guess I'll need to do quite a bit of saving lol
