Looking to get the wife an Audi avant tdi S-line..... what to look for?

Is there anything i need to be aware of with these, been told to go for a 80k+ so all the suspension parts have been replaced, but what about the 2.0 tdi are they better than the 1.9tdi?

And whats the tdi tdv thing about?

Any info would be great i only know about vauxhalls

I am curious as to why you think suspension parts have been replaced when a car has covered that sort of mileage, i am pretty sure and is my guess that may be 8 out of 10 cars still drive on with original factory fitted suspension except may be a ball joint or two or drive shaft gaiter or two here and there.
I would probably go for a lower mileage one.

about 60-70k the rubbers get soft, so should have been replaced by 80k.

About as vague as it comes there chap! What year/budget are you on about? As for the 80k+ thing, that's total baws, parts can wear at different rates depending on use and how carefully the owner has cared for the car so buy based on what you see and don't worry about the mileage. The older 1.9TDi is arguably the better of the engines, but both variants have their issues such as dual mass flywheels, turbo failures, boost sensor issues, MAF issues and so on. Just becasue it's got an Audi badge counts for nowt, there are still plenty sheds out there plus you pay a massive premium for an Audi badge these days. Trust me, been looking at the market for the past 6 months and your money doesn't go far when the four rings are involved especially for the run of the mill models such as your standard issue diesel estates, ie the most common models. I'd persoanlly consider an A6, the seem to be less effected by the willy waving tax that the A4 S-Line has.

Yeah i know they can go wrong same as any other car, i didnt think the a6 was any cheaper to be honest but ill take another look. The wife is going from a corsa c so wasnt thinking to get such a big car but if it saves afew £k's.

id spend upto 8k probably, been looking at 06-07 plate s-liine tdi avant, really want leather seats and the 5 spoke wheels.

1.9 is by far the better engine. The 2l was a very bad engine with oil pump issues and porous head issues in years 05 - 08 (b7 models) this is regarding diesel engines.
Economy on the 1.9 is awesome.

Clean ones hold there price well.

Hope you find a minter matey... I love mine

ive been told audi will warrent porus heads and the dodgy injectors etc, i know the 1.9's are superb. Im happy to pay good money for the right car all though i have a feeling ill end up with another astra estate if i cant find what I want. im not blowing 9-10k on a 100k car.

you got a pic of yours, anything specific to look for?

Am I the only one who has a partner who can think for herself when it comes to cars? I'd get put in my place if I suggested getting her a car.

I can definitely recommend the 1.9. We had it in a Seat Altea and although it's not the most refined or fastest engine it's solid as a rock and returns good economy.

Main things really are dependent on mileage. Smoke, any knocks and bangs from the engine on tick over or the death rattle when revved up. And any knocks and bangs when steering or going over bumps from bushes etc.

I've had mine over 12 months now and it’s superb. It was mint, I gave £11500 for it and it had done 38k from new with 1 owner and full Audi history.

It’s not got leather or sat-nav as most I looked at with this spec was a rep car with high mileage and the mileage for me was key as I do alot so wanted to start low. But has electric seats, factory phone prep, cruisecontrol, Bose sound system, Climate control, onboard computer and dog guard which is great as we have a dog.

    Not the best pic's

Even got me to the Nurburgring on a tank of fuel from my house to the Hotel, from full to red light.. 732miles. That was 4 up with all our luggage

Astra Estates are really nice though mate.. My dad bought one last year and he loves it. He likes the 888's but due to having a German Shepard he needed the estate so I done it up like a 888 bar the brakes for him and it looks the bollox
