to buy or not to buy? Nova 1.2

hi, theres a nova thats come up for sale by me for £250, its a k plate 1.2i owned by a lady in her fourties, ive been to have a look and its solid in the front arches, front inner wings, battery tray, the boot floor, sills and underside. The only bad parts of the motor are some rust bubbles on the door which id try and source some rust free doors, also there is some rot on the rear arch as marked in the picture below



i cant weld so i would need someone to sort it for me. My dad says to walk away from it but its solid except for there and i know how rare half decent nova's are starting to get, so basically, is it repairable for about £300 because im only an apprentice and cant afford to throw ££££ into it!

thats not the actual car, it was just a google picture to circle where the rust is haha, my old man thinks it'll be uneconomical to repair but i think its worth saving as its really solid apart from there!

If it needs a 2" square patch, any MOT welding place can do that for about £50 max. I'd grab it if that's all it needs. A clean shell with MOT can be worth £8-900 to some these days. Even more without a sun roof.
You can then grind the patch down and clean it up at your leisure. A clean Nova is worth a pair of new sill and wheel arches easily. Ignore your dad, he doesn't know what he's talking bout.

I agree with this, had the same from my Dad when it came to the older Vauxhalls I've looked at buying. I would snap it up mate at that price, sounds like a bargain and the work shouldn't cost that much to get sorted.

Ill have a word with some of the guys at work and see if they can weld it for me (im an apprentice tech at a merc place) if I get my hands on it, thing is a 1.4 corsa b sport is cheaper on insurance than the 1200 nova is so I'm tempted to go for a corsa instead

Wouldnt even need to think about that would expect some rust at that age a running car that's original still is worth much more than she's asking for would love to hear what plans you got for it of you get it
