    R.I.P Engine

    Doing about 40mph(ish) the other day and got a nasty sound from the bay





    RIP

    In another note anyone ever fitted a none twinport engine in a twinport? my engine code is z10xep and I have a x10xe sitting doing nothing but head look totally different

    aye 60k on engine bought it off old bloke was always a good engine done 10k in her wasn't kicking its head in was just driving normal

    That's a strange one !! Have you checked bolts are done up ect or head bolts as snapped in middle of cam ?

    can use the other engine providing u use inlet and exhaust manifold off old engine and sensors, done it before.

    Looks like just failure of the camshaft due to a bad batch of rough casting maybe?

    This rings a bell - can't remember if it was the 1.0 or 1.2 but certainly heard of camshafts snapping on a few occasions.

    Yeah, they recalled astras for it IIRC. Its the caps not being torqued down properly

    i dont suppose OP could have some sort of compensation if it is a common fault?, i did think that cam cap might have been incorrectly torqued but didnt want to say as i wasnt sure

    vauxhall did compensate some iirc but it was pot luck / agro
