Buying a Tigra - advice needed on engine size!

I've got a mk4 astra at the moment and am looking to change it soon for a tigra, around a 2005 reg.

When I bought the astra I was told to not get the 2.2 engine as it had problems, so I went for the 2.0l... just wondering if there is any problems with any of the Tigra engine's? Would prefer to go for the bigger engine if they're all ok!

    Any advice much appreciated!

Well, engine wise you had the 1.4 or 1.8 petrol.

They did a 1.3 diesel as well on later years.

I had the 1.4, bit gutless but good on fuel.

Only issue I know of on some 1.8's was ECU's essues., but nothing you can really check.

Make sure if buying private that the ECU light works, and goes off when engine started.

    Make sure the roof works.

Water leaks on some cars caused issues.

Make sure the front windows drop down about 1/2 an inch when opening doors.

Nothing else I can think of. Nice cars, had two.

Yeah I don't think I could do the 1.4 really..

I'll def check the ECU light when I look for one Do you know what wheel size comes standard.. are they 16s?

The other option was going to be a mazda mx5 but the Tigra's sooo much better looking!

    Thanks for the advice!

15's or 17's, depending on the wheels.

My mrs has got an 1800 16v sport. Shes had it 3 years and its spot on.. Never misses a beat. Its only done 52k now on a 55 plate.. She may be getting rid in the summer time due to needing a 4 door car but she's loves it and it will break her heart when she sells it as its a clean one.
The wheels are 16" as standard on the titra sports.. But some did come with 17" at extra cost from new..
