vaux are saying that all car will be fine other than the 2.2 direct engines, so c20let will be fine and same for x14xe

    quite funny this
    Saab:
All Saab vehicles with petrol engines are cleared for use with E10 petrol.
Owners of vehicles produced up to the mid-1980s should consult their dealer.

Awesome. First diesel gets all lentil munching and now fecking petrol too. I point blank refuse to use diesel that starst it has more than 7% bio content as it's just nasty **** in my opinion. Seem the effects of it first hand at Volkwagen/Audi and having been cynical, I'm now convinced and hence both diseasal cars gets fuel filters every 5k and healthy dose of additive to counter effect the ****e. That said, if there's no solution for petrol cars, gonnie be interesting. Though it doesn't say if this applies to all fuel grades, ie council spec unleaded and posh 99Ron and so on?

Lets face it, leaded fuel stopped being sold ages ago so I dont see the issue.

    EDIT

See they are saying that E10 won't work on older cars at all.

    This is concerning for me.

Over in the US they have a lot of fuel pump failures on BMW 335is and the fuel seems to be the reason behind it.

I agree with the spammer, it's been LRP for about 2 decades ffs lol.

I wouldn't count on it working just because Vauxhall said so... When they say "all cars", I'm not convinced they mean you can run your slant 4 on it

Whats the problem with biofuels then? Not really done much research into it.

I do run my isuzu on SVO (Veg Oil) at 100% for most of the year, running it on 50/50 mix for winter however.

I guess the more "refined" fuels have less of a lubricating effect on pumps and injection systems?

Re: up to 15% biofuel content added to forecourt petrol

so my in bits 69 spitfire is gonna be a dead loss then?

Can you still retain the heritage if i fit an mx5 engine instead?

EDIT: just read the article and it seems the mx5 is out too! WTF? Interesting to note that super unleaded is the answer for older cars apparently.

"And the reason only newer cars can run on E10 is because the higher ethanol content from has a corrosive effect on the seals and some alloy components in the fuel system. Modern engines have been built to withstand this."

I can't imagine it's going to corrode the head itself away, or the inlet. So I'm just going to ignore it.

Carbs might be a different matter though.

Might also be a different matter when it dissolves your fuel lines.

Strewth, how many of our cars already have had replacement fuel lines? Not the end of the world. Pretty sure the GTEs are steel.

It's up to you, the ones coming into engine bay and to the pump are synthetic rubber though iirc, as are stuff like o rings.

That's a bit of a worry, I guess it's time to start running the E30 on V power then!

No worries here, I just lob veg oil in and it's good to go.

its only really rubber seals that have a problem with the ethanol content, we refurbishment the old triumph Lucas petrol injection stuff at work and all the seals we use for this have been upgraded when they started adding all the rubbish to fuel so will have no problem with the high ethanol content
