It wasn't even flat. Just heard it vibrate for about 10 seconds, started slowing down (outside lane of M1 ), pulled into the services and saw bits of rubber flying up the windscreen.

    Tyre weld should sort it!

You are one lucky devil Ben! We now need to conduct full investegation into this, could have been fatal, so can we come and collect the car and the wrecked wheel and tyre and all the bits you have saved for this investegation, I am afraid until our full investegations are over you may not drive this car. It may take up to 12 months for the full report and any reccomendations that may come out of our report. Just tell us when is the best time to collect the wrekage and the car.

Remind me not to buy any part worns off you then

At least it wasnt at a greater speed or could have been really nasty and now you have a reason to break it sooner

I had the same thing at 80mph on the rear - the tyre just deflated and felt the rear end go all vague. The worst thing was I took it in for a repair to use as a spare and didn't notice the fact the tyre wall had completely split and disintegrated. Felt like a tit.

I think the car is just automatically breaking itself.
