We now need to conduct full investegation into this, could have been fatal, so can we come and collect the car and the wrecked wheel and tyre and all the bits you have saved for this investegation, I am afraid until our full investegations are over you may not drive this car. Banded steels - you're doing it wrong.
I had the same thing at 80mph on the rear - the tyre just deflated and felt the rear end go all vague. The worst thing was I took it in for a repair to use as a spare and didn't notice the fact the tyre wall had completely split and disintegrated. Felt like a tit.
