    Buying a car originally from northern ireland??

    ive found a car i want to buy, the only problem i can see so far (might not be a problem) is that the cars originally from northern ireland and has northern ireland number plates. since ive never bought a car other than in england and england registered i wondered if anybody knew of any problems with buying it? can i just buy it and insure it as normal and thats it or will it need reregistering or anything silly for english plates? any help would be appreciated

    Hi mate, i bought a car from NI 2 months ago. All you need to do is fill in the Logbook as usual but take the WHOLE thing, not just one side. Send it off to the DVLA as normal, with a cover letter if you like (i wrote one). Usually cars in NI are registered with the DVA, if that's the case you will be send a letter from the dvla saying thank you for the logbook etc etc then they will tell you to go to your local dvla with the letter they sent you. The local dvla office will then go through the letter, stamp various parts, put some stuff into the computer etc etc and then they will send out a logbook to you as normal within a couple of weeks. Sounds like a tricky process but it's not at all. Thats exactly what happened with me and it's all worked out just as it should have!
