New astra, when to change oil?

Quick question to anybody thats got a new astra sri, mine is only about 6 months old, only 6000 miles but i was wandering when the oil should be changed , i ask this because the onboard computer display says the oil life is at 56%, what is an acceptable level before i need to worry?, i would imagine 56% is still pretty decent so any info would be much appreciated.

What does it say in the service manual??????? That's probably your best place to look.

Has it had/do they have, an early change, say 300 miles?
Irrespective of any info, personally would change it for peace of mind, and to get off to a good start; for the sake of £30-40.

Deffo take a read of manual.

Most new cars have long life oil and filters, and the car will tell you when it want an oil change

Officially every 20k or 1 year which ever comes first. Although the oil life indicator may tell you earlier depending on the condition of the oil.
Couldn't think of anything good to put in here.

Given the fact that you've just bought a new car, for the sake of the minor costs involved I'd change it (and would've changed it much sooner, 300-500 miles as said before).
Note: the above may or may not be entirely correct.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, and then it struck me.

For interim oil changes yes, but if he has a lifetime warranty then no.

Cheers for the info guys, i think ill change it this week as ive got a 600 mile round trip to make this weekend so nows a good excuse as any, its a shame oil changes arent included in the warranty , (i think thats what it says anyway, you can correct me if im wrong)

But on the other hand im sure the manual says every 20k miles or 1 year which ever comes first so when i rock up to the garage and ask for an oil change theyre gonna think im bonkers lol

Yeah but just becuase the oil 'can' last for 20k, doesn't mean it should. Also, Vaux/ GM don't really want the engine to last too long. Probably about the 100k mark! I change mine every 3-4k and I fully expect the mechanical bits of my engines to last forever.

Forgot to reply to this guys. Well i rang up the garage and asked to book it in for an oil change and they said it didnt require one until next year due to them using long life oil so who am i to argue with vauxhall lol

My 1.3 CDTi van book states the oil to be changed every 20,000 miles. If it was my own van I wouldn't let it go that long.

My van has 77,000 miles and its just had its 3rd oil change, (would insert shocked smiley but they are broken.)
