What a f*icken bad end to the day!

Been working on the saab most of the day, fitting a new clutch and replacement gearbox.

This is a bit of an experiment at the mo, as the car is a 9-3 and the box is an f25 from a vectra gsi. Reason being everyone says they're the same box but no-one seems to have tried fitting one to replace the saab f25 (which seems weaker by comparison) < open to debate in itself

Anyhow, fit the clutch.......sorted Fit the gearbox back.......sorted Assembles the N/S shaft, suspension, tca's etc........sorted Fit the O/S driveshaft......er.....it's a bit short.......bugger.......WTF?......more blasphemy and a bit more f*ck and bugger....... Re-check the castings.......different! Damn

Ok! it's a trial, not the end of the world, i'll work round it somehow. Maybe a gsi shaft or a 95 maybe longer or get it lengthened. Whatever

Keep calm and carry on. Until i come to bleeding the clutch, and assured as i was that 'It's a good un mate!' The bloody release bearing just pissed it's fluid out from the bottom of the bell housing. Nooooooo!

So the whole bloody lot has to come out again! Gah!

Blimey, not good. The Vec V6 has a 2 part shaft, with an idle bearing. I've got this fitted to my F28.

I'm sure chip had the same problem, you may need to make a spacer shim to push the release bearing closer

Measure from your crank face to gearbox mating face on the block. A
Measure form your gearbox mating face to the slave cylinder when fully pushed back. B
With your clutch assembled on your flywheel measure from the crank face on the back of the flywheel to the spring tips of the clutch. C

Subtract A from B, this will give you the setup height H

Then Subtract C from H to give you the difference in setup height and the size of the spacer you need.

I'll work that out in a bit, when i've sobered up a little sounds like good info though

Just for info, the part no. for both hydraulic release bearings or concentric summat or other are the same (when i drop the box back off i'll be taking a few more measurements fo' sure) for Vaux F25 and saab equivalent.
