Opel Kadett C questions!!

Hi guys,

how much should I be looking to pay for fairly good condition Opel Kadett C? ive seen one advertised for £1200, its a 1.2, 2 door saloon, totally original, minimal rust, gonna view it tomorrow but i have no idea what they are worth as i havent seen many for sale so i dont know how good this price is?

also, i want to know (because i hadnt envisaged this coming up!) how do they compare to a mk1 escort - are they a good alternative? I know they are on price, but in terms of build/handling/anything else etc

any advice on what to look for when i view it tomorrow, im young so i dont really know these cars very well, all ive owned up to know is a mint astra mk3!

Miles better than a standard mk1 escort, parts are a nightmare though, especially the early ones.
