As a few of you will know i make my living through selling car spares as a sole trader. This of course means travelling far and wide visiting various breakers yards to remove the most sought after parts and advertising them on forums and via ebay. Sounds like a great job ey? Well its ok, but a bit stressful at times. There are however some great upsides...

I visit about 20 yards a week so will just keep posting up the interesting and bizzarr stuff i find.

Breakers yards are always interesting places. Plenty bargains to be had if you ask.

Save that Opel gt there worth a few quid when restored as not many about, Calibra turbo was a good find but corsa is beyond saving I think ;-)

Keep 'em coming, love stuff like that. The Opel is an odd one, under the bonnet there's what seems like a partially rebuilt engine and some reasonable looking paint but the outer body is a mess.

I used to got to a number of scrapyards every weekend, but I wouldn't go anywhere near them now. The people that work there are just beyond miserable, complete arseholes, I'd rather remove a rusted, rounded bolt from a 1969 Cortina upright by wrapping my **** round it at 5.30pm in the middle of January than have to deal with them again.

I tried searching to see what i could sell off it but theres nothing out there to get an idea of prices. The calibra was a cracking find. Got the LET and all running gear for £200

You'd be suprised what you sometimes find on those when you look a bit closer. I passed by a mk4 astra once and my mate (corsadonk) opened the bonnet to a full 100bhp nitrous kit!

Looks like theyve painted the bay with a brush.

Been out on another one of my trips today. Have done 90miles visiting 4 yards. Got loads of stuff but nothing you lot would be intersted in.

Did come across these two crackers though.

Ill be searching the net for the next few nights to see what i can sell off them. (no big wing sump though)

Its not a bigwing sump so pretty worthless to be honest. And the whole box is only worth £100. Sadly my time is more valuable.

1.8 was OHC.

poor opel GT. judging by the engine and stuff it looks like it was abandoned restoration. looks like it was bare metalled and then just left also, uniform rust

i meant the 1.8 manta engine was OHC, same layout and appearance as the engines we are familiar with. if its CIH it will be 2.0. i cant tell my gt/e from my berlinettas though. opel gt is 1.9 version of cih

Yea i just meant no bother, as in, makes no difference to me. It is multipoint so must be a 2.0 then, Just a shame there isnt someone who wants parts off it. Itl be crushed at the end of next week.

I dont know a lot about those engines. Its the type with the dizzy pointing into the block.

I also meant il be off to take the rocker cover off the opel GT, Not the manta. But itl fit a manta A.

Love scrapyards. Was down local one today as always have a search to see what can find for the corsa.

Quite often its mainly basic models, but do find surprising/useful bits.
Today got a washer pump from a combo which means can get rid of everything for the rear washer jet.

I've had few 'bargains' from scrappies. Due to not knowing what they had.

4-2-1 exhaust manifold for a baby XE with other stuff for £30. Irmscher front and rear bumper add ons for a MK3 Astra for much cheapness too. My daily runner, a Rover 45 was bought from a scrapyard too for £400 with some test left! Also like hunting about for anything interesting as well.

But some scrappie owners are proper ****s. One had a number of Novas in, mostly MK2 ones at that. Who then told me that he wouldn't even sell me a front indicater off one as they are getting hard to get hold of now!! Still get them new off FleaBay for not a lot of money!!

Was at my local one today mates uncle works there and rings me when anything good comes in today there was a nova gte, astra gte and a corsa sri managed to fill a van for 100 quid i love scrappies near built my mates car out of them lol. but yh got all sorts off the nova smooth boots, gte interior and best bit a nova gte engine on twin 40s four branch with some sort of cam and kent pulley (that was 30quid!!!) got calibra leathers also digi dash, koni adjustables strutbraces etc all 100 quid but bad thing it took most the day in that yard so couldnt go threw the other 3. nice people own it and if it ant got a turbo they wont take a second look at it so thet just want it out the way

Cant count how many bargains ive had. Many sets of comp MO's, BBS RS split rims, Wilwoods, Brembo's, irmscher, C20let, Twin 40's.......

This is the car i got my "keeper" out of. I buy c20xe's to break normally, But this one was just so genuine i decided to keep it for sometime in the future. The car was one owner from new with a genuine 80k (i know,,, they all have 80k right.)

Craig, if you found a cally turbo, why aren't you driving a 5stud turbo nova?

I preffer N/A in the nova,,,,,, was going to put it in my astra but ended up breaking the let for well over £1000 (payed £200 for it)

Craig you need to let us know where some of these scrappys are, i wanna go look.

Just to give you an idea ive driven 700mile's this week. But there is some good yards out your way. depends how far you want to go i suppose. plus you have to visit each at least once a week so as not to miss out.
