    New Car SRI 140 v SRI 150??

Im in the market for a Vectra 140 or 150. Dont know much about the 150 2.2 one. Is there any major problems with them or any thing I should look out for? Im fairly well up on the 140 x20xev engine so not worried about that.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

Do a search on timing chains snapping on the 2.2s!

Actually, i think it was a recall on the earlier ones, as the oil supply which lubricates the chain had too small a nozzle.
The cake is a lie :(

    The later 1.8s were 130s.

I'd avoid a 2.2 personally, the one in my Astra was gutless, a bigger car can only be worse. It had so little bottom end torque it was unreal lmao

Regular oil changes should see a 2.2 chain driven alright , not sure on change intervals .
Have driven a 1.8 vvt Vectra C what was suppose to be putting out 140bhp .. felt like 100bhp .
The SRi 140 ecotec Vecta does pull well in most gears for a large car putting out 138bhp .
I canny invest in ya and for that reason , I'm oot .

I have a 150 and it's a lovely car. I wouldn't say it is particularly fast at all, but is a great every day car. Chain intervals are 10 years or 100k. Manifolds are pone to cracking, you need to check that the chain does not rattle from start up. If it does the tensioner is on its way out.

The 2.2 is gutless in a VX220, can't imagine what it's like in a Vec!

Re: New Car SRI 140 v SRI 150??

Hmm my bro has a Mk4 Sri 2.2 and i actually think it goes pretty well.Certainly dosnt lack low down torque and pulls really hard all the way up the revs and seems to be pretty revvy. Also has 144k on the clocks.
I reckon it would hold its own say against a Mk3 Gsi Redtop(for comparison sake) or even have the edge on a Redtop converted Mk4.

    0-60 in 5.6s - hardly gutless!
