Which Astra Coupe to choose??

New to the forum, after owning a string of Honda Type R's and currently selling my A4 S Line as im after a cheaper motor,

Been thinking of a Astra Coupe, in blue, around a 2003/04 model. I like the SE versions with the blue/black interior.
Just want to know what peoples thoughts are on these and which engine to go for, either the 1.8, 2.2 or the 2.0 turbo.

Im sure many people will say the turbo, but whats the realistic MPG and reliability and running costs like with these.
Also what are they like with the 1.8 and 2.2 engines in, and peoples experiences like with them,

I've got an ACT and MPG is pretty bad if you do anything but take it steady. They have a short box as well so motorway driving means 60mph or bad mpg. They're solidly built and good all-round cars but not that fast or good on fuel in my opinion

agreed! They get better with a remap.

I've got a 1.8 and I think it's great! Much cheaper to run than the 2.2 and almost identical 0-60 time.

Running costs are peanuts, especially if you are a Mig member and get trade club for parts!

I get around 320-330 miles out of a tank of juice.

I have a 1.8 its been a good reliable car but i do a 50 mile round trip to work and it seems a bit heavy on fuel but maybe i excpect too much

Cheers for the replys, looking like il be going for the 1.8 as im getting a cheaper car to save up and getting a 2.0 turbo wil defeat the object,and I know if i get one it will not stay standard under the bonnet with the ammount of tuning options available for them!

Is that Chris Knott Insurance cheap for Vauxhalll owners at all?

I'm with Adrian Flux, for me, I've never found cheaper.

Pays to shop around though.
