Truely awasome pictures! love those hair pin bends high up on mountains, I don't know where this Stelvio pass is, but have driven over similar steep and winding narrow roads in Norway on the way to Nord Capp (North Cape)
Our future lies in the past, we can learn from the past to forcast our future,
I see it is in Italy, I thought it might be as you are from Sardinia, here is more on it from google Stelvio Pass Mountain Pass Driving Route and Map in North Italy and Italian Lakes Region : Driving Breaks

A few more pix.
We checked in to a gorgeous B&B in Solda near the foot of the Stelvio Pass road. 27 euro per person per night with a great breakfast.
It hammered down with rain on the Saturday which was a touch unfortunate for the group of 12 or more Opel Speedsters. However all change come Sunday - this is sunrise as seen from the bed/ balcony in our B&B:
One of the advantages of being in Solda is that we could get to the Stelvio Pass long before the hordes arrived from Germany etc. And they arrive in their MW/Merc/ Audi masses....
Only saw two UK plated cars; a white & blue 80s (I think) Porsche and the ultimate Stelvio machine, an Aston Martin:
Other than the two purple Calibras, the stand-out car was definitely a pale blue Aston Convertible from Genova. No pix though
Early morn on Sunday & Monday, we had the pass almost to ourselves:
I say almost; at all times of day there are the nuisance bikers who always take the line on the corners - a real pain both going up and down.
Another shot parked at the Pass:
View from the Pass; I would guess that the stretch from corner 8 to corner 18 is in sight:

I'm jealous.
When I eventually get a decent car then I need to do that road.
Awesome pics mate. Looks like an amazing road trip to do and I will do it one day/get round to doing it lol.
Good link that; indeed it is in Italy, just, although virtually all of the locals speak German as their first language.
This was our routing:
Oristano, Italy to Oristano, Italy - Google Maps
Stelvio is by point 'D' - if anyone is planning on going that way I highly recommend they take in point 'C' and roads eastwards to Cortina as well.
