    Just for fun

Tally up all the reciepts youve got for mods and parts for the vehicle you currently have, excluding the buying of it and petrol, but include services ect ect... once u come to a figure post it up and tell us what car you would go for to the value of the reciept!..

    I aint that sad..... lmao

I have kept as much as I can over the years but I am sure the figure would be higher with other costs I did not get a reciept for like RR set ups, some ebay purchases or private purchase's like my new £400 turbo. I recon I must be up near £20k of reciepts but probably can add another £5k to that.

my gte totals more then £22k thats without insurance etc! my mk4 gsi owes me over £12k now! bloody cars. could have bought a porsche with the money i have spent over the years, but i would still rather have the 2 cars as they are much more fun, and the gte pisses over pretty much most of the porsches anyway, lol

    Re: Just for fun

in the last 5 years about £500.00 on my cally, mainly 1 oil & filter change, air filter, timing belt, rollers, starter motor, two new front discs and pads, two new front tyres, and about £50 on secondhand door locks and steering lock when it got broken into to be driven away. So overall, pretty good value for money, no regular service as I don't drive more than 2to 3K miles per year so service onec in a blue moon, I am one who does not belive in wasting money when it is not really really required against all arguments oils don't loose their properties in a year as it is just a myth, oil is not fresh food and does not have a sell by or consume by date. People actuallu use oil to preserve metals against rust for many amny years!

I still need to change the spark plugs that i bought but never got around changing them, and on my engine they must now be over 9 years old , car's done 10100 miles now! Recently passd the emissions very well, and I have never cleaned my idel speed control valve and only ever once did I change the rocker cover gasket as the old one became hard and started to leak oil.

OK, so add a few hundred more pounds, still a good value for money.

The Golf company car I inherited in February and gave back at the end of last month had receipts in the arm rest for all the fuel I put in. Approx £1,200 lol It also had 4 new 16" Dunlops and a service

    Re: Just for fun

i'd be here for months trying to tally up all my receipts for the astra, it gets a suspension rebuild every 6 months or so, serviced every 3 months plus a lot on modified parts. And the car also came with a mega service history by the 1 previous owner, receipts for everything she bought like bulbs, tyres etc

    Re: Just for fun

Just thought this would be a laugh and seems theres some mixed reactions..lol.. anyhow on average i spend £45-50 on extra trinkets weekly and if theres something i need then as above i just get it when needed, my previous focus tddi owes me around 18k, escort 8k and a focus rs inbetween haha, on looking at it i would have enough for three skyline gtrs. Never thought would be as much but there u go!

Had to add not the newer gtr!

Totally agreed that I am a culprit, and I tend to follow the mileage rule rather than the time between service, but unlike in the past when I might have taken over 3 to 4 years to cover 9000miles and then I did the oil change, but now I plan to do it within 2 years, irrespective of the 9000 mile rule, it is still some improvement on my part.

Of course if I had a more expensive car or if I had spent thousands on my engine then i would look after it better by giving it more regular oil changes.

Just for fun.. if I phone up the DVLA tomorrow and there isn't a request for a change of owner in progress on that Astra I'm declaring it scrapped.

In an interesting twist to your question, I have notes of all the prices I got for items when breaking the GTE. I shall not be adding them up any time soon.
