Why do you all love redtops?
Here's a few of mine...
1) They smell awesome when you hammer them!!
2) They seem quick in whatever car you put them in
3) ALL vauxhall parts seem to fit in one way or another
4) They sound immense!

Redtop over Vtech any day, can cruise round town with loads of low down power but when the need arises coming on cam is great
Owns a white Mk3 turbo diesel with more stopping power then engine power..... boosting 0.9bar, Now De-catted!!
here here! love the gte wouldnt think twice of owning redtop fantastic engine not a bad word to say about it.
They look great , they are a choice engine for some kit cars . They use them in the current Chevvy touring car .
They sound great when in a Cavalier GSi .
I canny invest in ya and for that reason , I'm oot .
Mines not got a red top.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.

I loved:
-that even though it had epic milage, it carried on pulling and needed nothing more than a drop of oil and 1 head gasket after all the abuse i gave it.
-the fact mine had a stupid amount of power without doing anything to it.
-the fact (in my car) it gave me 230/tonne meaning lots of sports car owners were left scratching their heads or giving thumbs up.
theres loads about and never short of parts, very tuneable
I still remember Phatboy's old GSi hatch, 160K redtop. All I did was change the head gasket and pop a new cambelt kit on. No mods (unless you can class a crappy 1.6 aftermarket system as a mod), made 161bhp on the rollers at Interpro when almost every other car was making less than book lmao

lol at least spell it right mate, vtech is a kids toy!
both great engines, love my redtop engine but ive got two vtecs 1.8 teg and 2.2 accord and both have plenty of low down power and coming on cam is far better when compared to a standard or even lightly modded red top imo [/awaiting flames]
i love the the sound of a carbed/t'bodied xe its almost as good as a bda scream.
its a great engine design and quite simple to work on too.
it does also smell good! lol
there mint engines good standerd BHP on a shoe string budget just very hard to sell at mo ive got one for sale for just under 200quid and its not shifting
When they are good they are very good and I love mine but, don't you love the gentle tap tapping when they tell you they have just started up and the light brown tinge to the water when they are about to turn it into mush?
Just checked the oil on mine.
It took 1.5 litres just for it to register on the dipstick! God knows how long its been like that! Been raping it all day today too! Indestructable!
if it has stopped leaking ,its empty ,like the fact it can still show up a lot of modern cars
u can sleep in ur car but u cant race ur house
My old one was, new one is just with more pressure...lol
