    'F1 season chat'

Well the season is not even underway yet and we have the prospect of a FIA hearing in Paris already, only the FIA could manage something so badly!

Come on then, who is getting up for the start of the new F1 season?

Who is everyone tipping for the win in Melbourne?

My betting is on Brawn GP winning this weekend, hopefully with Button at the wheel but i would be happy with a Barrichello win as well.

I shall already be up! Drunk as a skunk no doubt...I too am expecting good things from the Brawn outfit. Obviously would like Hamilton to get his title defence off to a good start but really cant see that happening. Now they have reversed the decision to change the rules, i am really looking forward to this season!! Bring it on!

Anyone thought about doing a MIGweb fantasy league??? Bit late i know...

the brawn car should do well, but i think the diffuser row will hang over it if they win for a while, the stewards have passed them and the others with a similar design but four teams have lodged an appeal, so that wil have to go to the FIA courts, so any race result will be provsional, which is a shame
my money is on raikkonen or button for the win, but alonso should be there or there abouts too, will get a clearer picture of whos got what after quali i guess...

the stewards decision is under appeal, so any result will be provisional afaik

anyways, shame to start the season like this, but you always get it with massive reg changes, will be interesting to see how the KERS equipped cars get on, as some arent running it at all (BranwnGP for one) and how effective the moveable front wings are, as ever, i'm juts excited that its back!

FIA IMHO should have left the regs as of 2008 it was a damn fine season after all, I personally believe the 2009 season will be awful. Will surely feature appeals, arguments between teams. Now im all for the back of the grid teams coming through but look at 2008!! it already started to happen compared to 2007. Im yet to be convinced but im not looking forward to it as much as the 2008 season.

The stewards have cleared them to race, Ferrari, BMW, Red Bull and Renault have all protested the designs and appealed against the decision they are legal. Its got to go through an appeal court hearing now after the Malaysian GP. What I dont know is if the teams can protest to the stewards in Malaysia about legality and what would happen if they say different to the stewards in Aus. Either way, results of the first two GP's will be 'provisional'.

Its going to be fascinating this year. I really cant wait, may even watch quali early in the morning. The only certainty is Hamilton wont be winning this time!! Im rooting for Button but title will end up with Raikkonen, Massa or Alonso I think, Brawn will struggle to keep up as the season progresses due to financial limitations although they do have sponsorship now from Virgin. I really want to see the reg changes having the desired effects and more exciting racing.

Im also looking forward to the BBC coverage and what that turns out like. No adverts!!

just watched the practice highlights on the bbc website. The cars look weird with their oversize front wing and small rear.

Nearly spat my tea out when the commentator said "Race favourite Button" lmao

Ah - but with the ads you knew that to could have a wee in the breaks and if anything happened, they would replay it. Now you have to hold on for two hours! (Unless you have a live puase feature lol).
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
