You know when i was watching the race live i thought Hamilton had got past trulli before Vettel and Kubica crashed but when Brundle started saying he was definately 4th I thought it must have just been my tiredness after pulling an all nighter. Brundle needs to get his act together.

Edit: Just realised that they've given Trulli a 25 second penalty which has demoted him to 12th due to the cars being bunched up behind the safety car. Surely the FIA should have used some common sense and just dropped him back down to 4th. :-(

F1 rules are unfair at times it seems. but they are needed to avoid chaos!

There has also been another change which really does make a difference with the tyres. Last year the difference between the "hard" & "soft" compounds was effectively 1 compound difference. This year there is a 2 compound difference so the difference in handling etc... is greater.

Yeah i know its the standard penalty but its a lot worse than it would usually be with the race finishing under safety car and them all being bunched up. Even Hamilton thought he had to give the place back to Trulli by the sounds of it.

    Actually just seen this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_PZWe85nlI

Stewards not waving any yellow flags when hamilton went past so there was no need for him to give the place up. I think he must have heard on the radio that there'd been a crash but yellow flags weren't yet out.

Its obvious that drivers still don't fully understand the rules about safety car and are bricking themselves after incidents last year otherwise a few cars would have overtaken glock when he went off straight after yet the all slow down to let him back in.

yeah as shown by massa not knowing he could pass the safety car when it had the green light and numberplate on, but i do think thye all get a warning light in the car when the safety car is out now, so maybe he reacted to that? or maclaren were just ****ting it after last years penalties and thought 4th was better than a belated penalty

awesome race, well done jenson you kept your kool and bought the win home

obviously being a fan i was very happen when lewis managed to pull home a 3rd place points finish, ive read alot of ppl over the past few days saying that he is crap that a good driver grabs a **** car and makes it work, and lewis 100% showed he is maturing and is a world class driver.

ok there was some luck and there was some good driving, but a world class driver needs to take both of these aspects and capitalise on them and today he showed he was a driver that could and will

Yep that is correct, Article 152 of the International Sporting Code states that drive-through penalties are “not susceptible to appeal”. As with Hamilton and the events at Spa, this was a drive through penalty, as the race was finished it could not be applied so it is converted to a 25 second penalty.

As you can not be in the race if your off the track, and apparently Hamilton passed Jarno Trulli when Trulli had gone on the grass then the yellow flags are a moot point. At the time Hamilton went by, Jarno Trulli was not actually in the race.

Trulli then re-joined the race and passed Hamilton under waved yellows, claiming that Hamilton was going slowly and he thought Hamilton had a problem. Hamilton of course claims he had simply slowed down because of the full course yellows and the SC boards.

As after seeing that Lewis Hamilton had not stopped or had a problem Jarno Trulli could have let him past. But did not.

It all points to both drivers not really knowing the safety car rules and a legal 'pass' being followed by an illegal pass.

On a completely different note. Me and my mate were watching the build up and wondering if DaveB and Vettel were seperated at birth? lol

Why has Vettel been demoted 10 places for the next race? Is there no such thing as a racing accident any more?

I think that is overly harsh, Kubica could have given him more space imho but i thought it was a bit 50/50.

Yeah i think they both made errors. This is what bernie wants though isn't it? Cars pushing harder to get first place? If thats what he wants he's got to accept these incidents happening.

With a Merc engine? Honda kept it ticking over in the hope for the staff that someone would buy the team.
