    Exclamation Insurance brokers are useless

I learnt a very valuable lesson a week ago which saved me £800.

This is a long post BUT could save you a lot of money!!

I recently has a crash with my Nova GTE, I went into the back of someone (Crappy Nova brakes in the wet), It means my car was going to be off the road for ages.

I was paying payments on my Nova and had £800 more to pay to complete the years insurance.

I called my insurance broker (Adrian Flux) I explained I wanted to cancel my insurance to save money by stop paying the installments, the person on the end of the phone brought up my account. She said that I have recently had an accident, so she knew about that. I then asked about cancelling my policy. She said I had to write a letter to them. I then asked when my payments would stop, she said the payments would stop (direct debit) when all the papers between them and the bank were finalised, which takes no longer then 1 month.

So I wrote the letter, but after 1 month payments were still going out. I call them up and someone else tells me that I have to keep paying because I made a claim on the policy.

In the meantime I am trying to insure a Nova 1.2 runabout car for college, I ring them up and ask I could transfer my insurance from the GTE to the 1.2 and pay the difference (if any), they tell me that is IMPOSSIBLE because my policy is cancelled although I am still paying for it.

I ask them to give me the insurers tel. number (because Adrian Flux is a broker NOT insurers). They give me it. I call the insurers (Highway insurance) and speak to a senior member of there company. I explain whats happened and the guy THERE AND THEN reinstates my policy and transfers the policy to my Nova 1.2 and I pay no extra!!!!

So there you go, NEVER believe what brokers tell you because the person you are speaking to on the end of the line is a 16 year old girl who know bugger all about insurance. This is true because the senior member at Highway insurance told me that.

I dread to think what other people who believe what these brokers tell them and loose out on hundreds if not thousend of pounds!

    I can't find it!

Just ring up Performance Indirect and request it. If they start moaning at you about it shout down the line, it usually does the trick!!
