Ed's astra gte is very quick for standard is that standard as in no internal mods?
i guess he has the obligitory exhaust a filter upgrade
Well the exhaust is actually standard-kind of.

My exact spec is:

K&N 57i
Silencers removed from standard exhaust
Ecotek valve
Bosch super 4 plugs
Mega leads
Esso fully synthetic oil
Throttle body mod
and everything else standard.

I had stripped out parcel shelf and all seats bar driver's seat for the day. It all weighed in at 42kgs.

There is more I could strip for the next RWYB, and I may go for carbs in the not too distant future.

I am so pleased with my time it's untrue. I'm thinking about getting myself a runaround so I can keep this car's engine in good nick. Pics to follow.

no worries Ed my pleasure
you did no answer the question "is Ed a driving god?" ;) :D :D :p

yeah keep that engine in good nick its a performer have you had it on the rolling road?? would be interesting to see what the bhp is,
i think you had the starts spot on with just a little chirp of wheelspin then away.
cheers

ps just think if you added a maxpower sticker (one of the big ones) you would be in the low 14's easy lmao lmao

Well I don't know about that RS2000 lmao, but if anything I'd say my starts were not too brilliant because I did two 14.8s runs with completely different start techniques- one bogged down, and the other the wheels spun. My best starts I thought were against the Scooby, as proved by the 60ft times, but by then I had 3/4 tank of fuel and hot air so that's why the times weren't as good.

Was that your Escort then mate?

guys
So what do you think it would take to get a mk2 astra 16v into the 12's???
or is it even possible?
the white four door astra turbo i have seen run at the pod was quick "very quick" but i think he ran low 13's which is bloody brill for a FWD car. and notnormals mk1 is very very quick (low 13's as well)
The harris escorts have about 240/250 bhp and something like 8500rpm rev limit all from just tuning their pinto's with twin webers and wildcams, they do use slick tyres though but not huge jobbies.

i think dragracing is about weight, power, gearing and grip. if you can get a good balance you can get good times.
i await your thoughts:)

The 4s at PV2002 would have had a shot near the 12's with different gearing I reckon, or maybe that was the reason why it was so quick. But every time it had the same termal speed cos it was bouncing off the limiter.

Phase 3 Turbo, 350bhp? No probs, with correct amounts of traction of course.

mostly down to rear wheel drive and slicks i'd say.
They are also probably close to flat out in top (4th if they have 5-speeds) when they cross the line I'll bet. What was Not Normals terminal speed? 40-odd short of flat out in 4th I'll bet.
Those slicks wouldn't make mega difference, because they aren't that big, although must be worth a few 10ths.

I had the dubious pleasure of getting completely trounced by the orangey mk1 - those slicks are perfectly matched to the engine power and suspension setup I'd say, judging by the way it launched like a pebble out a slingshot - very well setup indeed.

I got the slip here:

1.827 60ft
8.134 1/8
86.27 MPH
10.509 3/16
12.639 1/4
109.09 MPH

that's fast, considering 'only' 250bhp.
