About LinkBacksHi ive got a w plate 2000 model 1.8 16v bertone astra coupe with a duff engine looking for a re-placement but need to know what engine code as i cant make it out on the block.
Is it an x18xe-1 or an z18xe,i know it aint an x18xe.

No, the reason being is the Z18XE is fly by wire where as the X18XE1 is cable the Z18 also has an extra 10 bhp on top. So unless you fancy transferring the whole of the electronics side over it would be easier to stop with the Z18XE.
Actually maybe you could swap the the bare engine over and use all the Z18XE ancillaries on an X18XE1 lump...

Well mine is cable not fly by wire and the cat is under the car not on the down pipe so must be x18xe1 if im right in what im saying?

yep in which case its an X18XE1
i though all the coupes were Z18XE

It is the first of them matw being on a w plate so that might be the reason why
