    ...............

Someone tried to nick the old CDi last night.

I was staying with relatives last night. When I got home the neighbour came round and said their Mk5 Astra had been stolen. They went in the porch and grabbed her handbag which had the keys.

Went to have a look at mine and noticed the passenger door was open. Went round to the drivers side and saw it had been bent open at the top. Inside they had broken the steering lock and mashed the ignition barrel.

    Funny thing 'are'..

    The brakes are seezed
    Its got no petrol
    2 flat tires
2 Immobs and a clifford alarm
and the battery is too week to turn the starter

I'm a bit annoyed as it means there are some scumbags going around my area which is quite nice. Shame they wasted a good few minutes on the Astra. It would have been easier to raise the Titanic lol.

Feel sorry for the neighbors who have lost their car.

    Bugger.
I'll warn people with older cars, scrap prices are high meaning your local scrap man will want it!

My car is nigh on 15 years old and not worth so much for resale value but it's still wearing more than enough security to let scum know it's not a free lunch.

Unfortunately not mate. The old one is being striped and the newer mint one is up for sale. I've decided to take a different route this summer as I fancy a change and my Mk2 LET project never really took off.

How did they steal your neiighbour's Astra Mk 5 when it had an immobiliser and hence wouldn't have been able to start?

Same. One of mines 19, the other 13 and both are well secured. The older one is worth a good bit now as its hit 'modern classic' status, but I'm not really in it for the money end of things, more the car is worth a lot to me, and it would be hard / impossible to replace with an identical one, as they're rare now.

Still, even on the old banger I'd secure it as best I could, why give the ****ers an easy ride?

The XE and Interior are already sold mate. The only thing left will be the shell and a few bits I don't need.
