Corsa B 1.7D info

Talk to me about them...

It's not going to pull the skin off a rice pudding, I know. I'm just on the lookout for cheap runabout - I'm told these do 50+ to the gallon, any known problems I should be aware of - the car has done 95k with history. Also, how much should road tax be?

Problems: Gutless. 60bhp and agricultural due to lack of turbo.

Road Tax would be £99/6months.

The 1.5TD would be cheaper on tax, buggerloads more power and still great economy. (70bhp, 52mpg £63.25/6months tax)

Certainly sounds better... only issue is the 1.5td cars are older and finding one which isn't held together with rust may be an issue. I shall investigate!

they are all Isuzu engines but as said go for a 1.5td has decent power and returns good economy even in unmodded condition
Owns a white Mk3 turbo diesel with more stopping power then engine power..... boosting 0.9bar, Now De-catted!!

The 1.5 and 1.7s are Isuzu units on the Corsa B.

Just had a poke around Parkers (who aren't that reliable but hey...)

They reckon most 1.5TD models ended in '96 but they also note the 1.5TD in the CDX (3 and 5 door) in 99/2000 and I *think* i've seen a few about.

Actually, looking through the autotrader, it looks like the 1.5td didn't have any gaps in production from 94 to 2000

Interesting, most I've seen online have been tatty 94/95 cars. None in my area either. I'll keep an eye out though, cheers.

most you see for sale are 93/94 and wrecked maybe its people holding on to them until the bodyworks shagged? ive seen l/m/n/p/r/s/t/ regs for sale although the newer ones are rarer.
there was a v reg 3 door cdx model with 40ish K on ebay not so long ago. looked brand new inside and out and would last literally for ever, was amazing.
i had bought one a couple of weeks earlier, i was gutted!
have to keep your eye out though, you can get good ones but dont expect it to be under 800-900 if its sub 120K miles

my combo 1.7 had 310000 miles on the clock still with the standard engine in, the only probs i had were alternators and starter motors were unreliable and blew when ever they wanted!
