    Calibra Turbo vs 200sx Touring

    Hi folks?

Anyone know what the real 0-60 is of a calibra turbo 4x4? Parkers says 5.6 but my mate used to have a really clean one and i'm a bit sceptical of that.

Then, will a cali turbo beat a Nissan 200sx Touring (1998ish shape) or will the Nissan win? I'm trying to think what my next car is going to be.

I'm 22 so insurance is impossible on things like evo's etc.

    Cheers

200sx is a better car but has much more potential to crash, especially if you're 22 lol

Tricky, I would say they would be pretty much equal if they had a race. The 200 S13 was a better car imo, S14 has hooooge potential but is a very nervy car in the wet.

As standard i dont think theres much difference in performance.

An s14 will be way more fun though.

    Lol. I'm pretty careful tbh!

I know there's a lot more to them than 0-60s etc etc, thats why i was asking about minor details like that. I love vauxhalls but to be honest i know an s14 is 100 times the car in engineering terms but wanted realistic specs like that, i means parkers quotes a cali turbo to be quicker than an s14 0-60 but i cant believe that. Mate bought an integra type r last night, really mint car but sadly this means i can't buy one as well. Can't both be spinning about in the same car lol. So the only other decent thing i can get insured in (for the same as im paying for an xe calibra now) is a late 90's 200sx. RWD fun!

the reason they will quote the turbo quicker is because the s14 are rubbish from a standing start. lack of rear end grip. its why you dont see many if any at totb

I see, same as a cali turbo with the 4wd turned off then! Spin city. Bit fed up of vauxhall reliability these days so hoping jap scrap will prove better. However, hanging on to my cali for about a year yet!!

an s14a in black or white, with massive black wheels is the meanest looking critter on the road.

:-) *Dreaming* Some sideways roundabout fun. I take it from previous posts they can be tuned up a bit fairly cheaply. I really want it reliable, thats the most important but about 250 bhp would be nice! If i do buy one it'll have to be a UK car, no imports, too awkward for insurance/parts.

Theres no way I could ever forgive the S14 200SX for the way it looks Im afraid. Totally unforgivable, quite possibly the most visually boring and unispiring coupe ever made.

Surly theres a better option than either of these two??

    lethal: lmao

Brett - I sort of agree its not the best but i think the front looks great, not fussed on the back. Can you think of anything else insurable for a 22/23 y.o thats this quick? Dont want an engine transplant astra or anything small like that. Ideas welcome!! The Integra's look great but mate has one so i have to get something different lol. Plus for that sort of money i'd like rwd fun!

s14a are good looking cars. Do a strawberry conversion(s15) and it'll be beautiful imo.

But lest in a cally, you'll get nice leather,
and a dash thats not made from melted from school chairs... and that wont bored you to death.

Thanks tathan! Which one is a UK car? I thnk they both look cool. Shame on me! Though the standard wheels on the top pic are horrible. Dont think i could insure or afford parts for an import thats why im asking.

LOL! Mmmm, yellow-pack dashboard. I do love the leather and black dash in calli, just sick of them always breaking down plus its not that quick. thirsty bugger too so might as well go a lot faster for the same petrol.

they're both UK cars, one's modified obviously, but the main difference is the facelift angry lights on a s14a.

Benn, ram it you coccoon, S14a TOURER has leather, one to go for innit.

The S14a is a stunning looking car, from the front. The back is pretty poor but it wouldn't stop me buying one, great cars. Go for the tourer to get cow seats, side skirts and some other toys.
