    Question Track Day Insurance?

Just had a quote for my Astra to be covered for the track day at Colerne Airfield.

    Car insured for £1000
    Excess £500
Policy for one days cover £80.

And you earn no claims discount on this too

Ive never done track days before so not had insurance for this type of thing.
Does this sound like a good price? :dunno:

I get that level of cover with my insurance standard, everyday insurance policy. Thats through HIC.

Which broker do you use via HIC?... the highway version will have an excess off 2000, if you can prove you have track experience its 1000...

the road and track excess is different.

You could replace your car with the £500 you'd have to pay in excess

Was £1000 for no experience last time I looked, £500 is you can prove.

tbh, if it wasnt there I wouldnt have bothered.

    So if you total it, you get 1000 - 500 excess = 500 - 80 quid fee = 420 pounds to repair/replace your car.

Doesn't look that good a deal to me?

The cover is not that important on your car, as said above the excess is half the value of the car. The real benefit is if you plow into the back of a Porsche GT3 and write it off, suddenly a £500 excess is peanuts

depends how gentlemanly the agreement is.... usually knock for knock as both of you knew the risks on driving onto the track.

Yes i've always known it knock for knock. Hence at Coombe with the pr*ck in the white sierra I just let him by, if i kept him behind and he smashed me would be nothing i can do!
