None of the items are left in a public place, its still private property, so take anything and its very much classed as burglary not "finders keepers" like if its washed up on a public beach

Aside from that, while it may be easy to get yourself in over a fence.....

...it's rather more difficult to get a TF out over said fence.

(The perimeter gates are still locked and guarded)

Heart breaking to see it in that state.

Today sees me completing 20 years of service for my current company, on Friday I close the doors on the office for the last time. Jobs off to Malaysia, computers sent down south, workers sent home...

Place is empty, so empty in fact that I've been able to safely set up a 35 yard target range and zero the scope on my rifles...

Ah, so when the guy says 'you can just drive it home' he means 'you cant drive it home at all or in fact, it would be in my garage right now...'

Very sad to see those pics. Someone needs hanging by the balls for what happened to rover.

The Red TF is too shiny to have been just lying around for a couple of years. The widebody one looks interesting tho.

Yeah, the union bosses, that is who caused it to shut.

A mate of mine did some consultancy work up there, there was a part of the line designed for 320 cars an hour, that needed to be manned by 2 people.
The union said "nope, not allowing any more than 160 cars through, and it must have 4 people"

How the hell was it ever going to make a profit with FOUR times the manpower it needed in places?

Can someone please explain, why if a company goes into a receivership that is little; ie. a distribution firm for instance - all goods are sold off and costs distributed between its receivers.

Surely, there is a small fortune to be made from all the kit that is still lying around that factory? why hasn't it been sold!?!

model..........yr of manuf ........ pcd ........ offset ........ centre bore
    200 / 400 ......... 90 to 99 ........ 4x100 ........ 35 to 38 ........ 56.1

    25 / 45 .......... after 99 ........ 4x100 ........ 35 to 38 ........ 56.1
    .

makes you wonder why no-one has "borrowed" any wheels or tyres yet ?

damn shame to see the place like that though, went there when it was running,( also went to honda, who produced basically the same car but with a lot less people), as said earlier, unions sometimes should be told to go take a hike, not all the time but when it affects peoples livelihoods as this has done is a prime example.
    I smile because I don't know what's going on.

I work in the car industry and know how inflexible the unions are, and the damage it can cause. Unfortunately they dont realise that the unions in poland are much more flexible.

dont forget these are old pics,

all the items DID go to auction and sell, and sell for some good money as well some pieces did. Everything else the chinese had, they even took the stairs in some places to put in there own 'rover' factory.

LOL. That just about sums Rover up.

Glueing some shonky forest arches to a TF & voila a new model for the gullable public. Its stunts like those that make Rover an embarassment IMO.

I feel for anyone who lost a job when LB closed but Rover shouldve been axed years ago. They took a strong name like MG with a great heritage (Montegos & Maestros aside) & all we can remember them for is Lexus clusters & scooby spoilers.

Have visited a number of the very large and now closed Slate Mines in N'Wales, literally toured the whole of them underground (my dad having worked there at one point and able to guide us around), upto our chests in water in some places..

Same deal there, closed in the 80's and left everything, tools, big machinery etc just didnt come back to work one day!

Most of it still had power so was sat in one of the underground control rooms with lights on all the way down this long incline, boiled the kettle etc..

Still had newspapers/books magazines all over the tables in the staffrooms.

Thousands of pounds worth of thick armoured cable down there too a lot of it new and on drums, also massive generators and winches all working

    Unbelieveable waste really..

The really interesting bit was the special vehicles unit sell off. F2 Rally cars, record holding Diesel, super V8 ZTs and lots of one offs. All long gone though.
