    SwCorsaGsi Carography - car pics

    None of these cars are fantastic, and none worth more than £1500, some less, I had a two year spell on a traders policy, with sdp on it too, and went through most of the cars I wanted at age 18, virtually crossing them off a list one-by-one, these are some of the better ones / more enjoyable, along with my comments about them, a lot of them I didn't take pics of, never mind, here goes;

    p.s. I've had the yard fully block paved now, looks a lot better (lol)

    Not in any order;
    Peugeot 205 1.6 Gti. a fun little car only marred by having a ridiculously loud exhaust, surprisingly fast, not quite as tidy as it looks in the pics, but not bad.

    Golf Vr6, 2.8 litre, bit boring to look at, quite fast once got going, not awesome though for a 2.8, sounded like a scooby and that was standard airbox, 10mpg.

    Vectra 2.5v6 sri. Quite fast, quiet and smooth, not actually bad on fuel, sold to someone who came from scotland for it, 86k, fsh, tidy car.

    Astra Gsi 2.016v redtop, bought in ex cond with one rusty wheelarch only, got new one at £140 and car was mint, excellent engine, remote start alarm, brilliant car should never have sold it, sold it to a lad from Newcastle and it came back to Wakefield, would have it back tomorrow if it was same. 17 inch alloys.

    Red astra Gsi, car was no good, took wheels off and sold for £800, never really drove it.

    Rover Coupe 220 Turbo, red with mint cream leather seats, my mate took the piss out of this, it was a VERY fast car and very light on its feet, a performance bargain, sold it to an old guy who came a 2hr trip for it. Very good condition, shame about the rover badge.

    Red Corsa Gsi, looks ok in pics but was abit tired, and ridiculously lowered, didn't keep long, not that great

    Cavalier Gsi, very good car, don't mean to over exagerrate but being in 5th gear was almost like being in 3rd, this thing revved its nuts off, surprisingly fast, had this same time as rover turbo, wouldn't have put it far behind, I know it sounds far fetched but it was really fast. Must have had something done as the head was dated 1997. Drove like the vectra I have now, not old feeling like the other cars. Planned to sell for £1000 but needed slight bit of welding for mot, sold it without for £500 and some iirc. Good car.

    Black Rs Turbo, ok, mint engine, body ok, felt a bit dangerous if you know what I mean, too much torque steer and that was at standard bhp, not overwhelmed, had to sell and buy another one as i didn't really feel I had experienced a decent Rs Turbo, wanted one that felt a bit nicer.

    Red Rs Turbo, got this cheap, had a bit of a boost problem when fully warmed, which I never did sort, though you could get round it by feeding the power on at the right time. This was quite good condition, I really like it, it had had quite a bit spent, and looked fairly mint.
    I want another one of these, don't quite know why as they are a bit of an old dog to drive, without pas etc, but there's something about them, guess it's cos they were flying past the school gates when i was 15/16 yrs old...want another one.

    Low res picture of it when the brakes failed due to split brake pipe, ah well thats one of the hazards of a 19yr old car..............

    I had a few more which I never photographed. cars I never owned which i would have liked to are- astra gte16v, ren 5 turbo,
    Cars I would like to own are- saph cosworth, another rs turbo, vectra gsi.
    at the moment i have a 02 reg astra 1.8 sri and a 99 reg vectra 1.8 sri.

    It had quite a bit done to it, cams, big 'cooler, induction, d/v, full stainless, single wiper, 17 inch wheels, boost gauge, lowered, when i sold it it had the boost problem, and the speedo had packed up, I got about £1200 quid for it I think, wish I'd kept it now, the body was really tidy.
    Like I said they are not very nice to drive, heavy steering etc, but there'e something about them I really like, put it in a straight line and put your foot down it feels good. Then again I am one of those who likes to have a dump valve so that might have something to do with it.

    Cav GSi has to be my favourite of the bunch, look great there.

    I know what you mean about the Rover Coupe Turbo being a performace bargain, if you can find one which still has the LSD then you are laughing. local lad picked up 2 from the same person for £600 a week ago!

    Agree on the Cav GSi, I was very impressed with mine. It felt like a massive bus when I got it & within 2 days I was throwing around like my Novas. great handling, fantastic engines & generally a bargain. Even at a grand tbh.

    Did you say you wish you'd had a GTE 16v? or had one?

    I bet that Golf had problems to give 10mpg.

    I never had a Gte 16v, I did have an 8v convertible though, my mates dad had a Gte 16v when we were about 14, must have been quite new, my mate had to polish it for his dad, a right car in its day, and still now if you can find a good one.

    The golf was probably a bit better than 10mpg tbh but it was shocking, not worth it for the performance which was nothing outstanding, I don't know much about engines but I heard people say they're not a proper v6 or something and im not sure if they were only 12v.

    The cav was great, sold it too cheap really only needed £100 or so but at that time I was getting a new car every few weeks i just looked to the next motor.

    Ah well all sensible now with proper job and normal insurance, never mind

    I dont know about the lsd, but when I bought the car my friend who shall remain nameless who is very very well known for his vauxhall in this area, took it out, went towards a roundabout in it, kept it on boost in 2nd, and then put foot down and the car went 90 degrees sideways I must say I papped myself!
    He blamed it on tyre pressures or summat well how was I know there was only 15psi in there I just bought it!

    We used to have some right laughs with the old cars, half of it was in the anticipation of driving an hour or two to find out if the car was ok or a shed!

    Now like I say I have my proper job, sensible driver with kid on way so I wont be going 90 degrees again if I can help it!!
