    HID Bi-Xenon Headlight Kits

What do you think of the aftermarket kits that are around?

The H4 fitment ones i have seen have a Xenon dipped, halogen main. Though i think that there are also kits that use a Xenon bulb for dipped and main, where a solanoid shuttles the bulb between the two positions.

Anyone have any experience of these, especially with quality of focus on the main beam?

    Nathan

I had a set with Xenon dipped, halogen main (very poor).
When you put full beam on you might as well turned your lights off as the xenon low beam was far brighter than the halogen main .
Lucky for me the kit was faulty anyway (poor quality kit) and i returned it for a refund.

The better ones are the duel HID H4's, both the same light output but the main beam aims higher down the road. I will be importing a load soon to sell so watch this space.

Just don't get pulled over when you've got them fitted.

I've got a bixenon KLIGHT kit on mine. The pattern is excellent on dipped beam. Full beam is not quite as good, but more than adequate. The kit is E and CE marked, so fully legal.

I think HID's must have auto levelling to avoid being dazzled (omegas have this etc etc). Additionally you may also be falling foul of the law by fitting bulbs in access of those rated as fitted as standard.

HIDs only need self levellers and washers if they are fitted from the factory, it does not apply to after market kits. They are also lower wattage then standard bulbs

According to the report in Auto express, it's not illegal to sell them but it is to fit them.

I got a H4 hi/lo kit and its fooooookin well worth the money IMO

Like Lee says you don't really need to use main beam much anymore because dipped is so clear and lights up quite a distance away! HID on mainbeam could land airplanes lmao

One thing though, when you fit them just pop to your local MOT station and get them to reset the alignment and knock them down a tiny bit just to avoid chances of blinding people on a dip/hill etc since I done that I only get 1 in 100 people flash me where as before they were slightly too high and so got 40 in 100 flash me lmao

    Small video http://www.lee69.co.uk/HIDS.wmv

HID 8000k (LEFT) Standard H1 (RIGHT)

BOTH HIDS and COMPARED TO BRAND NEW FOG LIGHTS

I think it will be better when the alignment is higher, ill pop out later to do it.

First impressions DAMN!!!! They are flipping bright, seriously bright.
They light up the road like nothing else, and these are the 8000k ones.

Similar - I saw it in the magazine. Was tempted to get a kit for the Wife's Astra, but not so sure now.
