Its a sad time.
My baby is going to have to go.
Some of you may have seen this on Astra-Mk2, but posting on here also.
It busts my balls to see this day.(Can you tell i'm a touch upset?)
I said i'd never part with her, as we have shared so many good times and we had such great plans for the future together.
Unfortunately, after sleeping in my garage for a few years waiting for finances and time to allow a great resurrection, my beloved Mk2 is to go. I knew that she would need some work to get her back on the road again, when I put her in the garage, she was road worthy and tested but another winter loomed and I had a banger run-around to go to work in. I found a XE to give her more go, and had not-too-grand plans to have her running this year with it in.
Its December, and finances have seen me fail in getting the engine swap done. Upon crawling underneath the other day, found the front cross member has all the structural strength of wet tissue paper, and tin worm has had a fair nibble in other parts underneath.
Trying to buy a house in the past few months and seeing it fall through have stretched the purse strings, and i'm at a crossroads. Throw a fistful of money at the old girl that I love whilst the kitty is bare, or get xmas out of the way and go a bit more modern, sensible and all that entails?
Got so attatched after nearly 7 years together, I know, i'm a soppy sentimental bloody girl who needs to grow up, but at the moment I don't give a rats ass.............
As she is, its only me that sees a value in her. But some of her bits maybe of use to others, maybe not as most on here run a GTE or equally 'posh' versions, but i'll post in the 'for sale' section some of her better bits that have been added over the years.
I miss driving a MK2. Havnt driven one for around 2 and a half years, my current Toymota is fun for what it is, but nothing ive had or driven since has made me enjoy driving for what it is. My Mk2 always made my day, always drove so well and always made me smile.
Boo bloody hoo!
I wont be leaving the site or the club. You are all great guys and provide lots of help and supply a lot of laughs too.
Big thanks to a few from way back....Haynzee for the warm welcome back in the day, a first meet at Well Lane a longtime back. Mr Warner for inspiration in the early days. Mike Hayward for having a similar car and totalling it leaving just little old me. Tom Williams for lots and lots of help at Billing and on here. And the others i cant quite remember just now. Thank you all.
Have a look in the 'for sale' bit, there may be something you need or know someone else has been looking for, all goes towards my future car fund.....
Cheers all
