Whilst you're about, any idea how much nitrous a Scooby EJ22 engine with some fresh rings etc would take safely on a controller? Seems like the best and easiest way to get a 12 second Bug

If you can retard the timing, far more than you need for 12s probably.

I bet a decently setup bug can break into the 12s all day with 200bhp anyway!

Hmmm, that's good to know - Cheers. Cost not a huge amount over a grand to whack an EJ22 on Megasquirt and 'bodies with nitrous in the back, got to sting a bit. *Ideas bounce around head, a-la pinball machine* lmao

What's the deal with bugs then? Are they easy to mod and do engine transplants and the like?

I seee. I just assumed more fuel + more oxygen = more torque, and subsequently bent roddies if your engine isn't built for it.

Or does nitrous just increase the engine speed without increasing the torque much?

It increases torque a lot, but most rods can handle at least double standad torrque if its clean power in N/A engines, and often many times that.

rods are normally VERY strong in compression, its tension that kills them normally

XE is perfect example, same rods in a LET and people see well over 300lbft with them

ej's really don't like nitrous i'm told. I have gleefull lack of knowledge when it comes to gas, but all the tuners i spoke to wouldn't touch my ej20 with a ****ty stick. 'don't respond well and tend to blow up' is the party line.
